Jennifer Lopez remains single nearly a year after finalizing divorce from Ben Affleck
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Jennifer Lopez is starting the next chapter of her life on her own terms and without a new romance.
Nearly one year after finalizing her divorce from Ben Affleck in January 2025, a source tells People that the singer and actress is not dating and is instead prioritizing her career and her children.
Jennifer Lopez is focused on work and raising her twins
According to the source, Lopez, 56, is content with where she is in life and is not actively seeking a relationship.
“It’s all about work and the kids for her,” the source said, adding, “She seems happy and content.”
Lopez shares 17-year-old twins Maximilian “Max” David Muniz and Emme Maribel Muniz with her ex-husband Marc Anthony. Those closest to her say motherhood and professional commitments remain at the center of her daily life.
Jennifer Lopez filed for divorce from Ben Affleck in August 2024
Lopez officially began 2025 amid the final stages of her split from Affleck, 53. The divorce was finalized in January, nearly 20 weeks after she filed paperwork on August 20, 2024.
Court documents listed April 26, 2024, as the couple’s separation date, exactly two years after their second wedding ceremony in Georgia.
The Georgia celebration came just one month after the pair tied the knot in a private Las Vegas ceremony in July 2022. Their reunion had been a major pop culture moment, marking a second chance at love nearly two decades after they first ended their engagement in 2004.
Jennifer Lopez reflects on single life and personal freedom
In the months following the breakup, Lopez opened up about embracing independence during an October 2024 interview with Interview magazine.
“Now I’m excited, when you say you’re just going to be on your own,” she said at the time. “Yes, I’m not looking for anybody.”
Reflecting on decades of high-profile relationships, Lopez added, “Because everything that I’ve done over the past 25, 30 years, being in these different challenging situations, what can I f**king do when it’s just me flying on my own … what if I’m just free?”
Jennifer Lopez says she has learned key lessons from past relationships
Lopez continued that candid reflection during an October appearance on 'The Howard Stern Show', where she explained that while she isn’t interested in dating apps like Raya, she isn’t closed off to love in the future.
“I’m old-fashioned,” she said, dismissing the idea of online dating.
“Do you think you’ve truly been loved?” Howard Stern and @JLo got deep into her past relationships during her first-ever #SternShow interview.

Still, the singer acknowledged that past heartbreaks had taught her important lessons, particularly about self-worth.
“What I learned, it’s not that I’m not lovable,” Lopez told Stern. “It’s that they’re not capable.”
“They don’t have it in them,” she continued. “They need to appreciate the little person inside of them. They need to love them.”
