LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Jesse Watters, a prominent figure on Fox News, revealed to viewers a unique source of contention: his liberal mother's jubilant text messages celebrating Trump's legal downfall.

A Manhattan jury found Trump guilty of 34 felony counts for falsifying business records to conceal hush money payments.

Political Polarization Amplified: Reactions to Verdict Reflect Deepening Divide

According to Mediaite, Responses to the verdict have generally aligned with political affiliations, with liberals viewing it as a triumph for justice and conservatives asserting that it signifies a descent into totalitarianism in the United States.

During the Friday episode of The Five, the hosts delved into the recent verdict. Watters elucidated how his mother has persistently been teasing him about the outcome.

“My mom is celebrating. She texted me that she was dancing after the verdict. Dancing. And then she kept all day sending me 34, 34, 34 felony counts,” Watters complained.

“She’s a grandmother. She’s a grandmother! Get it together, Mom! Oh my God!”

Fox news hosts get offended

Despite sharing Watters' outrage over the verdict, his co-hosts found amusement in the anecdote.

“Who’s the victim here?” Watters said of Trump’s felonies. “Why are they celebrating anything? There is no victim. Why are they happy? Who are they happy for? If anything, Donald Trump’s the victim of this case.”

Not just Watters, however, was offended by the liberal celebrations following Trump's conviction on Fox News. Network legal expert Jonathan Turley claimed earlier in the day that “There is a dehumanizing aspect” and “that people on the other side no longer view [Trump] as a human being.”

Throughout the trial, Trump made unfounded claims that President Joe Biden was behind the prosecution and that the proceedings were biased against him. Will appeal, the former president says. The date of his sentence is July 11.

Social media reactions: criticism and satire targeting political figures' families

On social media platforms, reactions to political figures often extend beyond the individuals themselves to their families.

One user wrote, "She must be so ashamed that her son is such a boot licking Trump today."

Another wrote, "She has known who he’s is for a long time now.

“The stupid babies need more attention!“"

One user said, "At this point, she's surmised that having a serial killer son, would've been preferable to this."

One commented, "Because a mother's love includes pointing and laughing at their MAGA spawn when appropriate, and boy-howdy is it."

One said, "Even Watters mom thinks he's an idiot."
