Jimmy Fallon jokes Joe Biden 'renamed his pacemaker TikTok' to win over young voters
MANHATTAN, NEW YORK: President Joe Biden is experiencing a decline in his approval ratings, largely attributed to challenges in resonating with younger voters.
In a light-hearted take, Jimmy Fallon suggested that Biden opted for an unconventional approach to bridge the generation gap—renaming his pacemaker.
In his monologue on the December 18 episode, Fallon humorously addressed various political developments, targeting not only former president Donald Trump and Rudy Giuliani but also finding amusement in Biden's difficulties as well.
'Today, he renamed his pacemaker TikTok'
Fallon started, "According to a new report, President Biden is increasingly frustrated by his low poll numbers. Yep. Biden looked at his poll numbers like, "I don't know what the problem is," and then made his 50th speech about trains."
“Right now, young voters seem to be the biggest problem for Biden’s campaign, which is tough, because compared to him, everyone is a young voter,” Fallon continued.
However, he added a reassuring note, mentioning that Biden is putting in his best efforts to garner support from the younger generation.
"But Biden is doing his best to appeal to young voters. Today, he renamed his pacemaker TikTok", Fallon added.
Clearly pleased with his comedic prowess, the 'Tonight Show' host celebrated the success of the joke by pantomiming shadow boxing and mimicking a home run swing.
He didn't shy away from self-praise, declaring, "That was a great joke", before smoothly transitioning to his next jest aimed at Biden, this time with a twist involving Barack Obama.
'We do not discuss the President’s private conversations'
According to The Washington Post, on December 17, President Biden headed to Nantucket, Massachusetts, to celebrate Thanksgiving. He convened a meeting with his closest aides at the White House residence.
Following the annual tradition of pardoning turkeys, Biden took a serious tone with the small group. Expressing dissatisfaction with his notably low poll numbers, he sought answers from his team and campaign on how to address the issue.
Despite a growing economy and decreasing unemployment, Biden felt that his economic message was not making the impact he desired, as revealed by anonymous sources familiar with the private conversation.
Andrew Bates, a White House spokesman, said in a statement, “We do not discuss the President’s private conversations one way or the other. The President and first lady meet regularly with their senior team for updates and to review plans."
In the midst of a complex political environment, President Biden faces further uncertainty as his legislative agenda teeters on the edge in Capitol Hill.
His appeals for increased assistance to Ukraine and Israel encounter partisan disputes. Matters were complicated further following the visit from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, which unfortunately did not yield a breakthrough.
