BALTIMORE, MARYLAND: Former President Joe Biden's latest public appearance ended with an unexpected moment that quickly overshadowed the speech he had just delivered.

After wrapping up remarks at a Democratic Party gala in Maryland on Saturday, June 27, Biden lingered on stage, looked toward different sides of the venue and briefly appeared to search for the correct way off before eventually leaving after receiving direction from offstage.

The clip spread rapidly online, adding to growing scrutiny surrounding the former president's increasingly infrequent public appearances.

Biden had just finished addressing supporters at the Maryland Democratic Party's 'Fight Back & Win Gala' near Baltimore when the unusual scene unfolded.

As applause filled the room, the former president remained in place instead of immediately walking off the stage.

He glanced toward one wing, then gestured in another direction as though trying to determine where to exit.

After someone appeared to indicate the correct route, Biden turned and walked away with his back to the audience.

Several speakers earlier in the evening had exited from the opposite side of the stage, making Biden's brief hesitation stand out even more.

Within minutes, videos of the moment began circulating widely across social media, with much of the online discussion centering on his onstage pause rather than the political message he had delivered moments earlier.

The awkward ending came after Biden delivered one of his most forceful speeches since leaving the White House, using the event to launch a series of attacks on President Donald Trump.

He defended the record of his own administration while accusing Trump of focusing on personal projects instead of ordinary Americans.

Biden mocked several issues he said reflected misplaced priorities, including White House renovations, changes involving the Kennedy Center, and the continuing controversy surrounding the National Mall's Reflecting Pool.

The former president paused several times during the speech to cough but continued pressing Democrats to remain politically engaged.

Biden's viral clip followed another awkward public moment

Saturday's viral clip arrives only days after another moment involving Biden attracted widespread attention.

During ceremonies marking the opening of the Obama Presidential Center in Chicago, attendees had already begun leaving the stage when Biden remained behind and was heard calling out, "Where's my granddaughter?"

Former First Lady Jill Biden then returned, took his hand and escorted him from the stage.

The incidents have received heightened attention because Biden has made only occasional public appearances since ending his 2024 presidential campaign.

Earlier this year, the former president also revealed that he is undergoing treatment for Stage 4 prostate cancer.
