Internet indifferent as reports claim Joe Biden shows 'impenetrable sadness' over son Hunter and daughter Ashley's hardships

WASHINGTON, DC: President Joe Biden got agitated and sidetracked by his family's difficulties, which became a focal point of his son, Hunter Biden's gun crime trial, suggested a new report. 

According to people familiar with the matter, the president gets irritated easily by criticism of his family. Some aides have wondered what would have happened if Biden hadn't been declared president at all, reported Axios.

President Joe Biden's family problems

According to the report, before Biden announced his candidacy for president in 2020, Hunter, who was found guilty on all counts in the criminal trial related to his purchase of a firearm on Tuesday, June 11, and his sister, Ashley Biden, struggled with addiction in 2019.

Ashley's rehab diary was stolen and posted online in 2020.

According to a close aide to Biden, the president shows 'impenetrable sadness' over his children's hardships.

As per reports, Biden's assistants are aware that he should be avoided if there is bad news about members of his family, which encourages the president to lean even more on those with whom he has had the longest relationship.

Joe Biden blames his reelection campaign for Hunter Biden's gun crime trial conviction

The president expressed regret and held his reelection campaign responsible for Hunter's conviction, reports stated.

"If I weren’t running for re-election, he would have gotten the plea deal," Biden reportedly told a person close to him earlier this month. Hunter's plea deal fell apart in July 2023.

He also worries Hunter and Ashley might relapse, per Axios.

Joe Biden's sister Valerie Biden Owens is concerned about him

In her memoir, Biden's sister Valerie Biden Owens disclosed that she was worried about her brother's presidential candidacy.

"I didn't want the family to go through it. I was worried the family couldn't go through it. I worried about Hunter. The grandkids. And Joe," she said in the memoir titled, 'Growing Up Biden', Axios reported. "Part of me wanted to say to those urging him on, 'Look, he's done enough. Leave him alone.'"

Hunter Biden can face up to 25 years in prison following gun crime trial conviction

First son Hunter could spend a maximum of 25 years behind bars, but that is not likely to happen. Although the president stated he would not pardon his son, he has not ruled out reducing his sentence.

Hunter was found guilty of making false statements in the purchase of a gun, making a false statement related to information required to be kept by a federally licensed gun dealer, and possession of a gun by a person who is an unlawful user of or addicted to a controlled substance.

Internet shows no sympathy toward Joe Biden over family woes

Netizens were seemingly indifferent to Biden's behavioral issues over his family struggles.

One X (formerly Twitter) user penned, "There are consequences to our actions - even for Democrats."

"Hopefully it keeps him awake at night. He is evil," wrote another. "uff your family is nothing but a den of crooks," added one. 

One user commented, "Meanwhile you drag Trump and his family into Court for nonsense," while another wrote, "Now you know how Trump’s children and family feel."
