WASHINGTON, DC: President Joe Biden is all set to unveil a proposal on Monday, July 29, that would significantly alter the Supreme Court, according to a report by Politico.

Notably, Biden is expected to outline his strategy during his Monday speech at Lyndon Johnson's presidential library in Austin, where he is scheduled to speak, the report added.

President Biden expected to reveal reform plans for Supreme Court

Biden could support the establishment of term limits for justices as well as an enforced code of ethics in an announcement that marks a significant change for a president who had long opposed efforts to restructure the high court.

Additionally, it is expected that he would support a constitutional amendment that limits the immunity granted to presidents and some other officeholders.

Notably, it is a response to the court's July 1 decision that presidents are immune from prosecution for 'official acts' committed while in office, a decision made in a case brought by former president Donald Trump.

Politico stated that the persons, who spoke about internal planning and were given anonymity, mentioned that the proposal's details are still unknown and subject to change.

Notably, the proposal is made at a time when Biden's criticism of the Supreme Court and its rulings has grown. These include rulings by its conservative majority that ended federal abortion rights, annihilated affirmative action in higher education, and prevented his administration's other goals.

Moreover, concerns have also been raised about the personal behavior of Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito. Thomas failed to reveal expensive gifts and trips, including those from well-to-do Republicans. Similarly, Alito's wife flew flags connected to the January 6 uprising and attempts to rig the 2020 election outside of their homes.

Internet slams Joe Biden

Many internet users were critical of Joe Biden as a report claims he is all set to unveil a proposal on Monday, July 29, that would significantly alter the Supreme Court.

A user wrote on X, "Gasping in desperation," while one added, "Why do democrats always try to move the goal post when they don’t get their way?"

A person also stated, "Too bad he won’t be able to," whereas one mentioned, "This is something a communist regime would do."

A user also added, "Per the constitution, congress determines the number of justices, not the president. He will not be able to expand the court before he leaves office," while one commented, "He has no authority For that. he can wish. He can hope someone else does it, but Biden can’t do it."

A person mentioned, "The dementia patient? Nahhh," whereas one said, "He got to La la land sooner than we thought."

Another added, "This is what an actual threat to democracy looks like, in case anyone was wondering."
