WASHINGTON, DC: Senator Michael Bennet (D-Colo) recently voiced grave concerns about the upcoming presidential election.

On Tuesday, July 9, Bennet revealed his belief that former President Donald Trump might defeat President Biden “by a landslide” in November.

After Biden's abysmal debate performance against Trump on June 27, Democrats appear torn over whether Biden should remain the party’s nominee. Concerns deepen over the 81-year-old President’s age, mental acuity and ability to win the White House for a second term.

Michael Bennet voices concern at Democratic caucus

During a caucus lunch, Bennet, aged 59, was reportedly among three Democratic lawmakers who raised alarms about President Biden’s chances against Trump. Bennet referenced Biden's poor performance in the June 27 debate against Trump as a critical factor in his pessimistic outlook.

He stated on CNN, “Donald Trump is on track, I think, to win this election, and maybe win it by a landslide.”

Bennet further argued that a Trump victory would likely result in Republicans gaining majorities in both the Senate and the House.

“This race is on a trajectory that is very worrisome if you care about the future of this country,” he emphasized, though he stopped short of suggesting Biden should end his reelection bid.

The senator also drew comparisons with past election cycles, noting, “Joe Biden was nine points up at this time – the last time he was running. Hillary Clinton was five points up.”

He highlighted the moral urgency of the situation, stating, “It’s a moral question about the future of our country, and I think it’s critically important for us to come to grips with what we face if together, we put this country on the path of electing Donald Trump again.”

Bennet reiterated his concerns, saying, “I think that we could lose the whole thing.”

Senators Jon Tester (D-Mont.) and Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) reportedly echoed Bennet's concerns during the closed-door meeting. However, Bennet did not confirm the specifics of their remarks.

Another notable development involved Senator Mark Warner (D-Va.), who allegedly drafted a letter urging Biden to step aside, although it has not yet been published.

Additionally, Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey has all but called on Biden to exit the race.

“I’m sure President Biden has a different view of his prospects in this election than I do, but we should be having a discussion about that,” Bennet argued.

The Senator did not hold back in his criticism of the Biden administration, accusing the White House of failing to present a viable strategy to win the election or secure critical swing states.

“They need to do that,” Bennet said. “They have to address the American people’s concerns.”

He warned of the consequences of inaction, saying, “If we just sit on our hands, if we say we’re going to disregard what is plainly in front of us and plainly in front of the American people and we end up electing Donald Trump again as president of the United States, that’s going to be a huge tragedy beyond epic proportion. And, it’s something I can’t live with.”

Bennet noted that no Senate Democrat explicitly called on Biden to drop out during the Tuesday meeting.

Despite these concerns, President Biden has vowed to stay in the race, even as his poll numbers plummet and doubts about his mental fitness to serve another four years persist.

As the oldest president in American history, Biden would be 86 years old by the end of a potential second term, the New York Post reported.

Internet reacts to Michael Bennet's remarks on Joe Biden

Bennet's comments about Trump winning in a landslide against Biden sparked a flurry of reactions on social media.

"God willing," one posted on X.

"He would in a fair election," another wrote.

"They know it. That's why they're working so hard and on OT spreaking their fake news. Land slide is an understatement," someone else added.

"No only that, but obstinate Biden & 'The Big Lie' (4 year coverup on his cognitive health) will hopefully cost the radical Democrat Party both House &Senate big-time! This needs to be a Political 'Extinction Event' so someone of common sense can bring that Party back near Center," a comment read.

"It’s simple, the American people have had it. They want their country back," another offered.
