WASHINGTON, DC: On Tuesday, July 9, President Biden’s biographer disclosed that one of the president's closest friends believes Biden should undergo a “complete neurological exam” and publicly release the results.

Chris Whipple, the author of the 2023 biography 'The Fight of His Life: Inside Joe Biden’s White House,' shared this revelation during an interview with CNN’s Abby Phillip.

Whipple recounted, “I will tell you that one of the president’s closest friends thinks that Joe Biden should go up to Walter Reed, have a complete neurological exam, release the results, and let the chips fall.”

Unspoken advice

Whipple added that this friend has not directly communicated this suggestion to President Biden. “I don’t think that friend has said this out loud to Joe Biden because that’s a hard thing even for a close friend to tell him, but I don’t think he’s going there without a major push,” Whipple said.

Despite this, Whipple emphasized that the friend and others in Biden’s inner circle believe the president is “fine cognitively.” Their concerns stem from his underwhelming debate performance against Donald Trump and the subsequent fallout.

Since the debate two weeks ago, President Biden, who is 81 years old, has faced increasing calls from top Democratic representatives to step down, fearing his age might jeopardize the party’s chances in the 2024 election.

Whipple argued that these fears are likely unfounded but noted that the White House’s alleged strategy of keeping Biden isolated and scripting his actions has only fueled these concerns. He described Biden’s White House as “the most scripted White House in modern history.”

Furthering the narrative of a highly managed presidency, a Philadelphia radio host, Andrea Lawful-Sanders, revealed that the Biden campaign had provided her with a list of eight questions in advance of an interview with the president. “The questions were sent to me for approval; I approved of them,” Lawful-Sanders told Victor Blackwell on CNN’s 'First of All.'

Concerns about Biden's age and cognitive abilities

President Biden’s age and cognitive abilities have become focal points in discussions about his reelection bid. During a speech at NATO’s annual summit, Biden relied heavily on teleprompters, which has become a point of scrutiny.

In response to the ongoing concerns, the Biden team has been in damage control mode since the June 27 debate, arranging numerous interviews with major outlets to mitigate negative press. Despite these efforts, skepticism persists.

ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos, who recently interviewed Biden, expressed doubts about Biden's ability to serve a second term. “I don’t think he can serve four more years,” Stephanopoulos candidly told a passerby in a video recorded by TMZ. He later expressed regret over his candid comment.

Despite the mounting criticism, President Biden has consistently stated he has no intention of withdrawing from the presidential race, positioning himself as the Democrats’ best hope to defeat Trump in November - albeit his steadfastness has not quelled the growing unease within his party and the public, the New York Post reported.

Social media reacts to friendly advice

The revelation that one of Biden’s close friends suggested a neurological exam ignited a wave of reactions on social media.

"Not gonna happen," one posted on X.

"Biden could have put this whole issue to rest 10 days ago. 1 appointment with a team at Walter Reed Hospital for a cognitive test and allowing the doctors to announce the results of the test. It would remove all doubts and speculation. Biden can't pass the test," another chimed in.

"Biden will NEVER do a neuro exam. As soon as he does, he's done. Game over," someone else offered.

"That is not needed. We all can see he has issues without testing," read a comment.

"When you are as far gone as Biden, you dont need to take a test to prove your condition he needs to be in a rocking chair at home," another remarked.
