WASHINGTON, DC: On Monday, July 22, President Joe Biden made a phone call to his former campaign staffers from his isolation at his home in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.

The 81-year-old President, who had tested positive for Covid-19, spoke in a scratchy voice and addressed Vice President Kamala Harris, saying, "I'm watching you kid."

Joe Biden's odd exchange raises eyebrows

The phone call, however, took an unusual turn, sparking various theories about Joe Biden's health.

Vice President Kamala Harris responded to Biden's comment by saying, "Joe, I know you're still on the rec… on the call."

This slip of the tongue, where Harris started to say "recording" before correcting herself to "call," caught the attention of many, including conservative figures who speculated about the nature of the exchange.

Prominent conservative voices were quick to jump on Harris' slip-up.

Marjorie Taylor Greene questioned whether Harris had inadvertently revealed that the call was pre-recorded. "Did Kamala spill the beans? Was it a recording? That's what she started to say," Greene commented on Monday.

Similarly, conservative activist Charlie Kirk described it as a "very strange slip," prompting Congresswoman Lauren Boebert to ask, "Where is Joe?"

The speculation did not stop there. Observers pointed to the body language of campaign manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez, who was present at the podium during Biden's remarks.

"Pay attention to the body language of the woman at the podium; she knows something is clearly wrong here. She never has an actual conversation with Biden, prompting people to believe this was most likely a previously recorded audio or AI," noted one account.

Journalist Ian Miles Cheong also chimed in, stating, "Kamala slipped up. She almost said 'recording.' This checks out."

Meanwhile, journalist Glenn Greenwald, known for his anti-Biden stance, called the situation "strange and wrong," emphasizing that Biden's absence from public view since his announcement was unusual.

"I don't endorse Biden conspiracies, but still: It's strange and wrong that Biden hasn't spoken given the historic magnitude of his announcement. Having a President drop out by tweet and then disappear is bizarre. If he's well enough to decide, then he's well enough to speak," Greenwald wrote.

Concerns over Joe Biden's health

Joe Biden has been unable to make public appearances since testing positive for Covid-19. According to his physician, Dr Kevin O’Connor, Biden's symptoms had "almost resolved completely".

Dr O'Connor stated that Biden had completed his 10th dose of Paxlovid, a Covid-fighting medication, and continued to perform his presidential duties.

"His pulse, blood pressure, respiratory rate, and temperature remain absolutely normal," Dr O'Connor noted. "His oxygen saturation continues to be excellent on room air. His lungs remain clear."

The last public appearance of Biden was on Wednesday, July 17, when he arrived at a US air base in Dover, Delaware, after testing positive for Covid-19 while campaigning in Las Vegas.

During the call on Monday, Biden's voice sounded gravelly as he addressed his supporters, saying, "If I didn’t have Covid, I’d be standing there with you."

Concerns about Biden's health were further fueled by his younger brother's comments. Frank Biden claimed that illness had been a factor in Joe Biden's decision to step down.

"I'm incredibly proud of my brother. Selfishly, I will have him back to enjoy whatever time we have left," Frank Biden told CBS.

However, a Biden family source apparently dismissed these claims, saying, "Frank Biden suffers from alcoholism and hasn't spoken to his brother in weeks. What he said... is completely untrue."

Joe Biden's endorsement of Kamala Harris

Following his letter announcing his withdrawal from the race, Joe Biden endorsed Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee in a follow-up post on social media platform X.

During the Monday call, Biden urged his supporters to back Harris with the same dedication they had shown him.

"I'm hoping you'll give every bit of your heart and soul that you gave to me to Kamala," Biden said.

"And I want you to know, I won't be on the ticket but I'm still going to be fully, fully engaged."

Biden assured his supporters that he would continue to work for the remaining six months of his presidency. "I've got six months left of my presidency, I'm determined to get as much done as I possibly can - both foreign policy and domestic policy," he stated, mentioning his efforts to end the war in Gaza.

He also revealed his willingness to support Harris in any way she needed. "So let me be real clear. We're still fighting in this fight together. I'm not going anywhere," Biden concluded.
