WASHINGTON, DC: Nancy Pelosi has officially endorsed Kamala Harris for the Democratic Party nominee, expressing her unwavering confidence in the vice president's ability to beat Donald Trump in the 2024 race.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, July 22, the former House Speaker said she is endorsing Kamala Harris “with immense pride and limitless optimism for our country’s future."

Nancy Pelosi calls Joe Biden one of the 'most consequential' presidents in the US

Notable absent from the initial list of high-ranking Democrats endorsing Harris on Sunday, July 21, in the wake of President Joe Biden's announcement he is dropping out of the 2024 race and endorsement of Harris.

A day after the announcement, Pelosi spoke about Biden stepping aside and urged party supporters to stand united behind Harris to "resoundingly defeat” Donald Trump in the upcoming November election.

“America has been truly blessed by the wisdom and leadership of President Joe Biden. With love and gratitude, I salute President Biden for always believing in the possibilities of America and giving people the opportunity to reach their fulfillment,” read her statement.

“As one of our country’s most consequential presidents, President Biden has been not only on the right side of history, but on the right side of the future," she added.

Expressing her confidence in Harris' candidacy, Pelosi said, “Today, it is with immense pride and limitless optimism for our country’s future that I endorse Vice President Kamala Harris for President of the United States."



 

She noted that her "enthusiastic support for Kamala Harris for President is official, personal and political."

“Officially, I have seen Kamala Harris’s strength and courage as a champion for working families, notably fighting for a woman’s right to choose," said the former House Speaker.

"Personally, I have known Kamala Harris for decades as rooted in strong values, faith, and a commitment to public service," she continued.

“Politically, make no mistake: Kamala Harris as a woman in politics is brilliantly astute – and I have full confidence that she will lead us to victory in November," Pelosi continued, according to The Independent.

“In the Democratic Party, our diversity is our strength and our unity is our power. Now, we must unify and charge forward to resoundingly defeat Donald Trump and enthusiastically elect Kamala Harris as the next President of the United States. Onward to victory!” she added.

Internet slams Nancy Pelosi's endorsement of Kamala Harris for President

As Pelosi announced her support for Harris' presidential candidacy following Biden's exit from the election campaign, netizens criticized the former House Speaker's stance and for previously pressuring the president to step aside.

One user on X wrote, "No wonder she was forcing Biden to quit" while another user wrote, "Did Pelosi pull the knife out of Joe’s back first??"



 



 

"Great so we don't have a say. WE HAVE to go along with whatever the establishment says. Such bullshit," a netizen commented.



 

"How many times did we hear Nancy talk about saving our democracy? Yet here we are, the Ruling Elite pushed out Joe by anything but any democratic process. Democrat voters have been gaslighted and now they are getting a candidate shoved down their throats," a user tweeted.
