AUSTIN, TEXAS: Joe Rogan is opening up about his political views after endorsing Donald Trump in the 2024 election. The podcaster said he has been “left-wing my whole life” while also criticizing some of Trump’s supporters as “nuts” and “rabid.”

Rogan made the comments while speaking with comedian and actor Ron White in an episode that aired on September 16.

The conversation touched on Rogan’s Comedy Mothership club, his views on government overreach, abortion rights, and his changing relationship with Trump’s political base.

Joe Rogan says he has been ‘left-wing my whole life’

Rogan said people often assume his Comedy Mothership club is right-wing because of his own association with it and comedian Tony Hinchcliffe’s presence there.

Hinchcliffe, who Rogan sees as fully right-wing, tapes his weekly “Kill Tony” show at the Austin comedy club.

“People also connect me to that ... mostly think that's cuz they don't know me,” Rogan said. “Because I look right-wing and I did kind of help Trump.”

White laughed before Rogan added, “I've been left-wing my whole life.”

Rogan said he considers many of his views left-wing but has also been concerned about government overreach.

He pointed to expectations that the Trump administration would end that kind of overreach.

“What we were sold with the Trump administration would be (overreach) would end, and there'd be a 'drain the swamp,'” Rogan said. “Obviously, it's not been ideal in that regard.”

Joe Rogan talks about abortion and women’s rights

The discussion also moved to abortion after White said he had voted for former President Joe Biden because of concerns about women’s rights.

Rogan clarified that White was referring to abortion access and said he did not believe he had the right to make decisions about another person’s body.

“The abortion rights thing is a weird one,” Rogan said. “I don't think I have a right to tell anybody what to do with their body. I'm not a woman. I've never been pregnant.”

Rogan then said he was concerned about abortions later in pregnancy.

Rogan also reacted to country singer Jelly Roll’s recent jokes about Trump during an appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”

The singer had joked about losing 300 pounds and said that meant he had lost an entire Donald Trump.

While discussing the backlash to Jelly Roll’s comments, Rogan turned his attention to Trump’s supporters.

“Trump supporters are (expletive) nuts, man. They're rabid. He represents something other than just a person to them,” Rogan said. “He represents ... a leader they wish they had.”

Rogan endorsed Trump during the 2024 election after Trump appeared on his podcast.

Despite that endorsement, Rogan has since spoken out about parts of Trump’s presidency, including mass deportations and the war in Iran.

He also appeared as a commentator at the Freedom 250 UFC Fight Night at the White House.
