LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Jon Voight has time and again shown that he likes Donald Trump, and during a recent interview, he insisted on his adoration once again.

While speaking with Variety, the 85-year-old actor was asked if he thinks the GOP presidential nominee is like Abraham Lincoln among the pantheon of American presidents and he replied, "Absolutely," adding, "Who else has faced greater challenges and enemies since Lincoln?"

In 2019, the actor had taken to X (formerly Twitter) to post a two-part video in support of Trump, calling him "the greatest president since Abraham Lincoln."

Jon Voight claims Donald Trump is the 'only answer' to save the American way of life

The 'Anaconda' star was honored with the National Medal of Arts and the National Humanities Medal by Donald Trump in 2019, but the 85-year-old dismissed that it had anything to with his admiration for the former president.

Voight told the publication, "I don’t care about all that stuff. I only have a few years left, and I want to spend them trying to save our American way of life. It’s slipping away forever."

Weighing in on the attempted assassination, the actor said, "When I see the attacks on this man, I know they’re coming from a hateful, evil place," before asserting, "I’ve been the most outspoken supporter of Donald Trump in Hollywood. I’ve been saying he’s the answer, the only answer."

"Now, after this, maybe they will look at Jon Voight in a different way. If Donald Trump is being revealed in this way, maybe they will see a supporter like me in a different light," added the Oscar winner.

Elsewhere during the interview, Voight criticized his daughter, Angelina Jolie, for supporting Palestine amid the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict.

He expressed, "She has been exposed to propaganda. She’s been influenced by antisemitic people. Angie has a connection to the UN, and she’s enjoyed speaking out for refugees. But these people are not refugees."

Internet slams Jon Voight as he opens up on his admiration for Donald Trump

Jon Voight's remarks from the Variety interview didn't sit well with netizens.

One said, "He’s not a good guy," and another added, "This is so disappointing. Why are you giving this man a huge platform to speak on."

"The man is truly hardcore trash. His daughter has hated him from birth," mentioned a person, while someone else echoed, "Here we can see how she was always right about how much a piece of trash her father was...."

An individual remarked, "Here’s an old white guy that managed to alienate his children and has zero qualifications speaking publicly about politics, enjoy."

"Stop giving irrelevant fossils platforms to spout their hate," fumed one more.
