Jon Voight schools ‘ignorant’ daughter Angelina Jolie over Palestine support, says she lives in a ‘bubble’

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Renowned actor Jon Voight and his daughter Angelina Jolie seem to be getting along better these days, with the exception of Voight’s criticism of her views on the Israel-Hamas conflict. 

Jolie has been a refugee advocate for over two decades, working on projects that highlight genocides in Southeast Asia and former Yugoslavia. Her statement on the Israeli invasion of Gaza last November garnered significant attention.

Notably, Voight, who often praises his daughter's talent and achievements, frequently finds himself at odds with her support for Palestine.

Jon Voight's discusses his and Angelina Jolie's conflicting views on Israel-Hamas conflict

In a broad interview with Variety, Voight discussed his and Jolie's differing views on the Israel-Hamas conflict. 

Voight criticized Jolie, accusing her of being "influenced by antisemitic people." He believes Jolie has been swayed by propaganda from the United Nations, where she previously served as an ambassador for the UN's refugee agency.

Although Voight expressed he didn't want to argue with his daughter, he accused Jolie of being confined in a "Hollywood bubble" and suggested she was "ignorant of the real stakes." 

He remarked, "I think she has been influenced by the UN From the beginning, it’s been awful with human rights. They call it human rights, but it’s just anti-Israel bashing."

Regarding Jolie's reaction to her father's public criticism, Voight mentioned that she prefers not to discuss politics due to their conflicting views, which he acknowledged.

Despite this, Voight has continued to criticize Jolie, as reported by TMZ.

For instance, in October 2023, Jolie called for a ceasefire in Gaza and compared the war zone to a mass grave. Voight countered her stance, claiming she didn't understand it was "justice for God’s children of the Holy Land." 

Voight and Jolie have had a complicated relationship over the years. Recently, they have grown closer after a period of estrangement, with Voight even attending a Broadway show of 'The Outsiders,' which Jolie produced with the help of her daughter Vivienne.
