Angelina Jolie's weight loss worries pals after recent red carpet appearance, reveals source
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Actress Angelina Jolie's dramatic weight loss has caused her inner circle to worry about her well-being.
According to Radar Online, tipsters claimed that the 'Salt' star's close friends and family are concerned that she "won't be able to carry on like this" following her unexpected red carpet appearance.
Angelina Jolie forgets to eat or doesn't want to eat, claims source
The 49-year-old 'Maleficent' actress alarmed her fans on June 16 when she showed up at the Tony Awards wearing a strapless ruffled gown that exposed her extremely slender shoulders and arms.
Tipsters said that, given Jolie's hectic schedule as a working actress and devoted mother, her friends have advised her to eat healthily to nourish her body.
A source revealed, "She's looking very thin, almost sickly, and probably doesn't weigh more than 98 pounds. She's either forgetting or unwilling to eat. Pals are afraid she won't be able to carry on like this."
Jolie's sudden and dramatic weight loss might also be related to the stress of her ongoing court struggle with her ex-husband Brad Pitt.
As previously reported, Pitt insisted that Angelina turn up the non-disclosure agreements she had signed with a third party, and she lost her fight to keep them hidden as they struggled over their French winery, Chateau Miraval.
Jolie refused to comply with Pitt's request, but Judge Lia Martin dismissed her arguments in May and ordered her to provide all of the NDAs she signed with the third party between 2014 and 2022.
Expert explains possible reasons for Angelina Jolie's dramatic weight loss
According to Florida-based longevity expert Dr Gabe Mirkin, who has not directly treated the actress, the likelihood that Jolie "already has osteoporosis," a disorder characterized by brittle bones, is strong.
"She has severe loss of body fat, which is almost always associated with severe loss of muscle and bone," said the doctor.
Mirkin concurred that the stunning 5-foot-7 woman probably weighs less than 100 pounds and advised her to consult her physician, who would request a bone density x-ray.
"Most likely it will show osteoporosis and she will be given medication to treat it and instructions on resistance exercise," Mirkin added.
Jolie revealed in 2013 that she had tested positive for the BRCA1 gene mutation, placing her at a higher risk of suffering from ovarian and breast cancer, like her mother.
Later, the Oscar winner underwent a complete hysterectomy and a double mastectomy as prophylactic measures. The associated estrogen deprivation, Mirkin said, can potentially result in a "rapid acceleration of bone loss."
Nutritionist Caroline Craven commented on Jolie's weight loss in 2018 and told Hollywood Life why she’s "concerned".
Craven said at the time, "Looks can be deceiving, but my concerns are raised when someone has little to zero body fat for extended periods of time, especially if they’re not a serious athlete."
Regarding a desired weight for the 'Maleficent' actress, Craven emphasized that the focus is not so much on hitting a particular figure as it is on having the energy Jolie would probably desire for her daily routine.
