NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Comedian Joy Behar slammed former President Donald Trump for calling upon Joe Biden to take a drug test ahead of the upcoming presidential debates during an interview with TMZ on Tuesday, June 25.

The co-host of ABC's talk show 'The View' argued that instead of urging Joe Biden to take a drug test, Donald Trump should be required to undergo a lie detector test for the upcoming debates. The first debate is scheduled for Thursday, June 27, hosted by CNN in Atlanta and moderated by network hosts Jake Tapper and Dana Bash.

Behar's comments were in light of the presumptive GOP nominee posting on his social media platform, Truth Social, on Monday, "DRUG TEST FOR CROOKED JOE BIDEN??? I WOULD, ALSO, IMMEDIATELY AGREE TO ONE!!!”

According to The Hill, Trump and his supporters have repeatedly made baseless claims about Biden opting to take performance-enhancing drugs ahead of the debate.

His campaign has often tried to portray the current president as old, weak, and unfit for a second term in office.

The Biden campaign has hit back, accusing Trump of being "scared of being held accountable for his toxic agenda" and resorting to "trash talk" and false narratives.

Joy Behar's interview with TMZ

A video clip published by TMZ on Tuesday shows Behar standing outside ABC studios, being asked by a reporter, "How do you feel about Trump and other people saying that he (Biden) should take a test to make sure that he is not taking like performance enhancement drugs? Is that like, silly?"

"Who, Biden?" the comedian asked back. When the interviewer confirmed in the affirmative, Behar said, "I think that Trump should take a lie detector test."

"Right. Now hear me out," continued the interviewer. "Some people are telling that Biden looked a little bit more alive during his past few interactions, you know, like speeches. Do you think he is taking something, because sometimes in the past he has been a little bit...?"

"No," responded Behar at once. "He's too old to take something." The interviewer nudged if she felt that Biden's energetic performance was simply because he was "getting good rest and being sharp," as Behar continued to insist, "He's fine, he's fine. His brain is working fine."

"He doesn't need a drug test. Trump needs a lie detector test. If anybody's got drugs, (it's) Trump. He's got Viagra and Gas X in his system," she later added, making the interviewer burst out laughing.
