WASHINGTON, DC: Actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus said that she would most likely attend the Democratic National Convention and would be 'extra-involved' to help elect Vice President Kamala Harris as the new president.

Harris was formally chosen as the Democratic nominee on Thursday, August 1, for the upcoming presidential election in November. She has become the first Black woman and the first South Asian woman to be the White House standard-bearer for a major US political party, according to Fox News.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus teases involvement in Kamala Harris' presidential run

The 'Veep' actress said during an interview with the Times of London that she will be 'extra-involved' to help elect Vice President Kamala Harris as the new president.

The Times wrote, "Yet surely there will be even more confusion between Meyer and Harris because Louis-Dreyfus says she ‘will be extra-involved’ in the Harris campaign. Immediately after our interview, she is recording an advert telling Americans abroad how to vote. Will she be at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago this month? She hesitates, wary of revealing a spoiler. ‘I probably will be, yes,’ she says eventually."

Even while Louis-Dreyfus was happy to be associated with Harris, she tried to set the vice president apart from her virtual persona, asserting that sexism is the driving force for many of the comparisons.

She said, "Let me just say this. If Selina had any advice for Kamala, she had best not take it. I think Kamala is so intelligent she wouldn’t take the call."

She added, "Female candidates are more scrutinized. That is the reality, and we played into it and used it to our comedic advantage. There is an episode in which a character suggests Selina open a speech with 'As a woman' and she said, 'I can’t identify as a woman! People can’t know that! Men hate that and women who hate women hate that, which I believe is most women.' So we used that for a lot of fodder."

VP Harris compared to 'Veep's Julia Louis-Dreyfus over iconic line 'I'm gonna run for president'

When President Joe Biden announced in July that he would be stepping down from the presidential race, people on the internet shared a scene from ‘Veep’ that showed Julia Louis-Dreyfus' character Selina Meyer, who played the VP, telling her team members, "I'm not leaving. POTUS is leaving."

Meyer's Selina added, "He's not going to run for a second term. I'm gonna run. I'm gonna run for president!"

The Daily Mail reported that one of her teammates said, "I did not see that coming." Another person said, "Leader Meyer, team Veep on fire!" whereas one added, "Let's go to the f*****g moon!"

A person also stated, "I always thought Julia to be smart. I stand corrected," whereas one mentioned, "Yup, if anybody knows how tough life really is these days, it's someone that was making $1 million an episode to pretend."
