LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: CNN's Kaitlan Collins engaged in a contentious exchange with Senator Ted Cruz, who persistently reiterated debunked falsehoods regarding widespread election fraud in 2020.

Despite Collins' attempts to steer the conversation towards Cruz's stance on accepting the outcome of the 2024 election, the senator evaded a direct response.

Confrontation over certifying election results: Collins challenges Cruz's response

Collins, maintaining her composure, questioned Cruz about his intentions regarding certifying the election results in 2024, prompting Cruz to dismiss her inquiry as "ridiculous."

“I’m conducting the interview, with all due respect,” Collins replied.

Cruz, who previously advocated for audits of election results based on unsubstantiated claims, faced scrutiny from Collins regarding the lack of basis for these challenges in court.

"In 2024, will you certify the election results? Do you plan to object, or will you accept the results regardless of who wins the election?" Collins asked.

“So, Kaitlan, I’ve got to say, I think that’s actually a ridiculous question,” Cruz responded.

In the face of Cruz's attempts to deflect, Collins pointed out the absence of credible evidence supporting claims of widespread fraud and reiterated her query about Cruz's stance on future election results.

Collins holds ground against Cruz's deflection tactics

“Because there was no basis for those court cases,” she answered when Cruz questioned why the cases were thrown out.

“That’s actually—” Cruz began before Collins interjected, “Senator, with all due respect—” and Cruz insisted, “You asked me a question, do you want me to answer it?”

“And you didn’t answer it,” Collins replied. “Dozens of court cases were thrown out … and also there were no widespread fraud. You’re not clearly answering the question."

Cruz, however, persisted in his rhetoric, blaming the media for purportedly pushing misinformation and denying the existence of voter fraud.

“It wasn’t the media, it was the Attorney General,” Collins replied, “and my question was about 2024—”

“—It was CNN that relentlessly, relentlessly pushed that propaganda,” Cruz fired back, “and by the way, never holds—”

“What propaganda? There was no widespread fraud in the election?” Collins asked.

“That voter fraud doesn’t exist and whoever says it does is wearing a tinfoil hat,” Cruz answered.

Cruz faces criticism and skepticism

Ted Cruz's recent encounter with CNN's Kaitlan Collins has sparked significant public reaction, with many expressing frustration and skepticism towards the senator's tactics.

One user wrote, "Ted Cruz desperately trying to become more unpopular."

Another added, "Cruz is lying through his teeth to coin a phrase."

One user commented, "He’s lost his floatation device and he doesn’t know how to swim. Oddly the pool is empty It’s."

Another added, "Ted Cruz is just awful at the fake outrage thing, this is about as cringe as when a local athlete tries to do a car dealership commercial…."

One user wrote, "Cruz know it was a just election. But, that won't get him maga votes. Lying is not new or a problem for him."

One added, "He's so bad at this."
