NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: US Sen Ted Cruz accused President Joe Biden of attempting to buy votes by providing student loan debt relief to anti-Israel protesters at colleges across the United States in a post over X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, May 12.

The Texas Republican shared a clip of his Friday, May 10 appearance on the show 'Varney & Co' on Fox Business Network in his post. According to Mediaite, Cruz went on the show to discuss the 2024 election and the Biden administration’s stances on Israel and the war in Gaza, with host Stuart Varney.

Sen Ted Cruz's tweet

In the clip shared by Cruz on the social media platform, Varney is seen asking his guest, "Senator, are we really going to forgive the debt of anti-Israel pro-Hamas protesters?”

"Well, look, the answer is actually no. But you got to understand, the Biden administration is in the business right now of buying votes," began Cruz.

"They tried before the last election to give away $1 trillion in money they didn’t have the legal authority to give away by forgiving a bunch of loans. That was obviously lawless. When they did so, they knew that. It went to the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court struck it down."

With the presidential election approaching in November, Cruz claimed that the Democrats were trying the same ploy again in a bid to gain the support of young voters.

"They're trying to buy their votes twice! Both with loan forgiveness and through undermining Israel," he shared, while also assuring that their attempts would not come to fruition as they would be struck down in courts.

"This is all about politics for the administration, and it’s really a shame how extreme the Democrat Party has gotten with this kind of rabid anti-semitism is now a major part of the party that there is a pro-Hamas wing of the Democrat Party," he added in conclusion.

Cruz further wrote in his post, "Joe Biden is buying votes by attempting to forgive loans for pro-Hamas rioters tearing universities apart. I hope that the courts overturn this egregiously illegal policy."

"They are Universities, so no conservatives will be affected!" jibed another.

"Ted says doing stuff for average Americans instead of just rich donors is bad," chided a third.

"I love it when Republicans boil down complex geopolitical situations with 1000s of years of grievance behind it to simple binary choices, so I don't have to think," commented a fourth.

"You’re a sorry man, Ted. Pathetic in every way," shared a fifth.
