GROVE CITY, PENNSYLVANIA: Former Vice President Mike Pence landed a new gig to teach a course at Grove City College, a conservative Christian school in Grove City, Pennsylvania, reported CBS News.

On Thursday, April 12, the college announced that he will "immediately begin serving" as a distinguished visiting fellow for the new Center for Faith and Public Life, an initiative to "explore and support the presence of Christian faith in public institutions."

Pence visited the campus on Thursday, addressing the Institute for Faith and Freedom Conference about anti-Semitism and the Israel-Hamas war.

Speaking at the annual conference, Pence described the opportunity as a "great honor," as per The Hill.

"Faith and engaging in public life are not mutually exclusive, nor should they ever be. History shows that Christians steadily working toward the common good have changed the world, and Grove City College opening a center shows they are committed to continuing this work," he added.

The former VP who served under the Donald Trump administration from 2017 to 2021 is an evangelical Christian known for his outspoken religious beliefs.

He had a brief presidential bid for the upcoming election, upholding his conservative values, including strict restrictions on abortion. However, Pence suspended his campaign in October 2023.

Grove City College President Paul J McNulty described Pence as the "perfect choice" for the visiting fellow position, stating he "is an extraordinary role model for what it looks like to lead with wisdom and winsomeness in public life, and he will be a leading source of thought leadership and an impactful voice of the Center."

As part of his position, the former Indiana governor will engage with students, speaking and writing with them, besides participating in events and teaching a course with McNulty.

After leaving the White House, Pence, who shifted away from Trump following the Jan 6 Capitol attack, turned critical of the former president. In March, he declared he would not endorse the Republican presumptive nominee.

Internet slams Mike Pence

Netizens lashed out at Pence's new job, accusing him of being a coward and traitor seemingly due to his actions on January 6, 2021, when he certified Joe Biden's 2020 election victory despite Trump's opposition.

One user wrote, "Just go away." Meanwhile, another remarked, "That's what we need. Corrupt politicians corrupting our youths' minds."

"Because even us evangelicals don't want you in politics anymore," a user fumed. Another user said, "What a massive failure you are."

Someone else wrote, "Master class in how to survive without a back bone." [sic] Whereas an individual said the former VP would be teaching "Lessons in Cowardice 101."

"Hopefully it’s not the Constitution… Sell Out.. Please Go Away!!" read a remark. Another outraged user said, "Great. A corrupt politician filling young people’s heads with lies and misinformation."
