Justin Bieber to headline first-ever FIFA World Cup Final Halftime Show with Shakira, BTS and Madonna
EAST RUTHERFORD, NEW JERSEY: Justin Bieber has been announced as one of the co-headliners for the first-ever FIFA World Cup Final Halftime Show, set to take place on Sunday, July 19, at MetLife Stadium.
The 11-minute performance is expected to be the most-watched halftime show in history, with Madonna, Shakira, BTS, Burna Boy, Gustavo Dudamel, and Coldplay also joining the star-studded lineup. The two championship teams will be determined after the semifinals.
Justin Bieber shares excitement over FIFA show
The announcement comes after Bieber and his wife, Hailey Bieber, were spotted in the stands during the United States' FIFA World Cup opening match in Los Angeles. Wearing a pink zip-up jacket, a beige hat, and oversized sunglasses, the 'Baby' singer was seen singing and dancing during the opening ceremony.
All proceeds from the halftime show will support the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, a landmark initiative aiming to raise $100 million to expand access to quality education and football for children around the world.
The fund has already raised more than $50 million, with $1 from every ticket sold for FIFA World Cup 2026 matches being donated throughout the tournament.
After being selected for the performance, Bieber said in a statement, "The FIFA World Cup brings the world together in a way nothing else can. I'm grateful to be part of this Halftime Show, and even more grateful knowing it's already helping expand access to education for children around the world."
Following the announcement on Instagram, fans flooded the comments section with messages of excitement about his upcoming performance.
Bieber has also been actively following this year's tournament and recently showed support for his home country, Canada, by posting a photo of the national team's soccer logo on Instagram with the caption, "SEND YOUR LOVE AND PRAYERS TO TEAM CANADA."
Burna Boy, Shakira join FIFA halftime show
The halftime show will also feature Nigerian singer-songwriter Burna Boy, who performed the official 2026 FIFA World Cup song, 'Dai Dai,' with Shakira, along with Venezuelan conductor Gustavo Dudamel, the Webby Award-winning PS22 Chorus from Staten Island, and characters from 'Sesame Street' and 'The Muppets.'
Burna Boy and Shakira previously performed 'Dai Dai' during the FIFA World Cup opening ceremony at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City on June 11.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino highlighted the significance of the event, stating that the show will support "the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund and our mission to expand access to quality education and football opportunities for children around the world."
The Nigerian singer also reflected on the opportunity, saying, "The FIFA World Cup is one of the few moments that truly bring the entire world together. To represent Africa on the first-ever FIFA World Cup Final Halftime Show is a privilege and a responsibility that I don't take lightly."
He further said, "I'm honored to be part of a performance that not only celebrates football and culture but also helps create greater opportunities for children through education around the world."
The performance will mark Bieber's first since Coachella, where the 32-year-old became the highest-paid performer in the festival's history, earning $10 million for his headlining sets across two weekends.
Although fans continue to hope for a world tour, Bieber has not announced one, having previously scaled back extensive touring following health concerns, including Ramsay Hunt syndrome.
