LONG ISLAND, NEW YORK: Police have publicly released Justin Timberlake’s infamous Hamptons DWI arrest video despite the actor’s attempts to stop it. The footage shows Timberlake inside his gray 2025 BMW while answering a number of questions asked by the cops before being taken into custody in June 2024.
He, however, appeared confused and even told the agents, “These are, like, hard tests.” The 45-year-old singer was also asked to come outside of the vehicle after he was stopped by cops in the ritzy Long Island town of Sag Harbor.
Justin Timberlake failed to walk straight
But Timberlake struggled to walk a straight line at the cops’ request. He can be even heard saying in the video that his “heart’s racing.”
Although the ‘Prince of Pop’ co-operated with the police officers, he refused to take a breathalyzer test multiple times.
Justin Timberlake was allowed to talk to his friend during his arrest
The police footage also shows a female friend of the dancer approaching the cops after handcuffs were placed on him and he was put in the back of the squad car.
“You’re arresting Justin Timberlake right now? Can you guys please just do me a favor ’cause you loved ‘Bye Bye Bye’ or ‘Sexyback?’ Do me one favor!” the unnamed woman requested as she was granted permission to speak with Timberlake.
Timberlake did not want his 'vulnerable state' to be out for public
This came after earlier this month, Timberlake sued the ritzy Long Island town of Sag Harbor so that the cops won’t release his arrest video.
The ‘Friends with Benefits’ star had claimed in the documents that he’s depicted “in an acutely vulnerable state during a roadside encounter with law enforcement” in the video. In the papers, it was also argued that the footage captured “intimate details” of Timberlake’s “physical appearance, demeanor, speech, and conduct.”
In September 2024, Timberlake was eventually sentenced to a $500 fine, 25 hours of community service, and a 90-day driver's license suspension after he pled guilty to driving while ability impaired (DWAI).
Timberlake urged people to not drink and drive
After the judgement, he reportedly said, “What I’d like to say to everyone watching and listening, even if you’ve had one drink, don’t get behind the wheel of a car.”
“There are so many alternatives. Call a friend, take an Uber, there are many travel apps, take a taxi. This is a mistake that I made, but I am hoping that whoever is watching and listening right now can learn from this mistake,” Timberlake added.
