MONTREAL, CANADA: Two months after Katy Perry hard-launched her relationship with former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Xavier Trudeau shared rare insight into what it is really like having a global pop star around.

In a February 21 Instagram video, Xavier did not hold back when asked about his dad’s new romance. Instead of drama, he offered something refreshingly simple. “She’s cool, she’s nice,” he said.

Xavier Trudeau shares Katy Perry music advice story

Speaking to G Hobs in the February 21 Instagram clip, Xavier revealed that his connection with Katy Perry goes beyond family dinners and concerts.

“We talked for hours, talking about my music. She gave me advice and next steps for me and stuff,” he shared.

For Xavier, who creates music under the name Xav, that guidance meant a lot. The teen is currently carving out his own space in R&B, a genre he has been passionate about for years.

“I always loved music, whether it's creating it, listening to it,” he explained on ‘The Brandon Gonez’ Show podcast in May. “I always had a passion for it.”

Music was not a sudden phase for Xavier. His parents, Justin and Sophie Gregoire Trudeau, enrolled him in classes from a young age: drumming, guitar, piano, the works.

A few years ago, he began experimenting on his own, making beats on his phone and recording over them. Since then, he has leaned fully into R&B.

“They've been supported since the start,” Xavier said. “Every single time I come back from the studio, I'd have something to show them and we sit at dinner and just listen to it like, ‘Oh, I like this. I don't like that.’”

“They love it,” he added. “They're happy for me. They're happy I'm choosing my own path in life.”

Justin Trudeau attends Katy Perry Montreal concert amid romance rumors

With music playing such a big role in Xavier’s life, it was no surprise that Justin Trudeau was seen attending Katy Perry’s Montreal concert in July.

The appearance came just two days after the pair were spotted having dinner together, a moment that fueled intense romance speculation. At the time, neither Justin nor Perry publicly addressed the rumors. Justin separated from Sophie in 2023, and the former couple continue to co-parent their three children, Xavier, Ella-Grace, 17, and Hadrien, 11.

Five months after the dinner date made headlines, Perry confirmed the relationship on Instagram, officially ending the speculation.

Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom continue co-parenting

While Katy Perry is embracing a new chapter with Justin Trudeau, her previous relationship with actor Orlando Bloom remains rooted in mutual respect.

Perry shares her four-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove Bloom, with Bloom. The former couple, who were together for nine years, have been navigating life post-split while keeping family first.

“I’m so grateful,” Orlando shared on Today in September. “We’ve got a beautiful daughter.” The actor, who recently wrapped filming on ‘The Cut,’ reflected on the transition with calm acceptance.

“When you leave everything on the field like I did in this movie, I feel grateful for all of it,” he said. “We’re gonna be great,” he concluded. “It’s nothing but love.”
