Kamala Harris and Doug Emhoff's marriage under strain as she blames his 'dead weight' scandals for loss
WASHINGTON, DC: Former Vice President Kamala Harris has been reportedly using her time to accuse her husband, Doug Emhoff, of being the reason she lost to Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election.
Harris blames her loss on the nasty scandals involving her "dead weight" spouse that circulated throughout her campaign, a source revealed to the Daily Mail.
Kamala Harris blames 'dead weight' husband Doug Emhoff for her defeat in the 2024 presidential election
The former vice president was all smiles and love for her "beloved" husband, Doug Emhoff, in the moments following her devastating loss in the presidential election.
Moreover, Emhoff received praise from Harris supporters for his love, strength, and support for his wife during the challenging period.
Now that President Trump has taken office, Harris is concentrated on assigning blame, and her attention has shifted to her "dead weight" husband.
"There's plenty of blame to go around as far as Kamala is concerned and Doug has his share," one source told the Daily Mail.
The source continued, "Doug did Kamala no favors during the election – frankly, he looked like a hypocritical a** after the bombshells that he had got his child's nanny pregnant while married to his first wife and assaulted his ex-girlfriend on the heels of his 'I am woman' crusade."
Thus, Harris must also assess whether Emhoff is a burden or an asset as she considers her political future, which might involve a 2026 bid for California governor or another attempt to win the top office in the country two years later.
Additionally, it has been reported that Emhoff has already accepted a position with a Big Apple legal firm, which would require them to divide their time between Los Angeles and New York.
Scandals surrounding Kamala Harris' husband Doug Emhoff
Kamala Harris tried to dismiss a number of accusations against Doug Emhoff that were exclusively covered during the summer.
While still married to his first wife, film producer Kerstin Emhoff, the Daily Mail revealed in August that the former second gentleman had an affair with his daughter's nanny, Najen Naylor, which allegedly led to a pregnancy and a miscarriage.
According to a source, the affair contributed to Emhoff's 2009 divorce, and that he paid Naylor $80,000 to compensate her signing a non-disclosure agreement.
However, the dispute didn't stop there. In October, Emhoff's ex-girlfriend came forward to report a traumatic event that happened at an A-list event in Cannes, France, in May 2012.
She claimed that Emhoff smacked her so hard in the face that the impact "spun her around," after he believed she was flirting with another man, leaving her dazed and confused.
Since then, Emhoff has admitted to having an affair. However, he has denied ever slapping his girlfriend, claiming through an anonymous representative that "any suggestion that Doug would or has ever hit a woman is false."
Additionally, Emhoff had to deal with criticism from his former coworkers at Venable, a law company in Los Angeles where he worked from 2006 to 2017. Harris has remained silent about all the allegations and has never publicly addressed them.
Things are reportedly not 'hunky dory' between Kamala Harris and Doug Emhoff
The couple's close friends and family feel that things are not "hunky dory" between them, despite their honorable united face at the inauguration and President Jimmy Carter's state funeral on January 9.
The couple put on a unified front at the presidential inauguration on Monday, January 20, but their features reflected the strain as they sat through Trump's speech, their emotions remained solemn.
Harris held an inauguration document on her lap while sitting stoically during the event, dressed in a black pantsuit with exposed zippers. During Trump's speech, she was observed clutching the material in her fingers and crossing her wrists.
Emhoff grimaced and shook his head slightly when Trump pledged to rename the Gulf of Mexico the Gulf of America, mirroring his wife's disgust.
After saying goodbye to Joe and Jill Biden and briefly shaking hands with Trump, the pair departed the Capitol building together with the intention of going back to California.
But now that Harris has lost, it has been rumored that she wants to completely change her image in order to revive her failing political career, possibly at Emhoff's expense.
