WASHINGTON, DC: The White House reportedly declared on Wednesday, July 3, that Vice President Kamala Harris is "the future of the Democratic Party."

This comes as prominent Democrats and their allies prepare to take President Joe Biden's place as the party's nominee if the 81-year-old president steps down.

Karine Jean-Pierre says Kamala Harris is Joe Biden's political heir

When asked about President Joe Biden's 2020 campaign statement that he would be a "transitional" candidate, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre declared Harris to be his political heir, even going so far as to address her as "president."

“One of the reasons why he picked the vice president, President [sic] Kamala Harris, is because she is indeed the future of the party,” Jean-Pierre stated at her regular briefing.

At 59, Harris confronts significant potential competition for the Democratic presidential nomination, notably from 56-year-old California Governor Gavin Newsom and 52-year-old Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, should Biden withdraw after his calamitous debate performance last week with former president Donald Trump.

Leading Democrats express concern that Harris, perceived as awkward in public engagements, might inadvertently enhance Trump's prospects.

However, a CNN poll released on Tuesday, July 2, indicates Harris is only 2 percentage points behind Trump nationally, compared to Biden's deficit of six points, the New York Post reported.

“She would cackle her way all the way to the Oval [Office] if she could,” a Democratic critic told the outlet.

Harris typically receives lower favorability ratings in polls compared to Biden, with current averages at 38.7% for Harris and 39.8% for Biden, as aggregated by RealClearPolitics from recent polls.

Joe Biden and Kamala Harris will continue as Democratic ticket for November election

The alignment of Jean-Pierre's statement with the president's position remains uncertain. On a Wednesday call with campaign staff, President Joe Biden maintained that he and Kamala Harris would continue as the Democratic ticket for the November 5 election.

In his rallying cry, Biden declared, “There is no one I’d rather be in this battle with than all of you.”

This came after the editorial board of the New York Times openly predicted on Friday, June 28, that he would lose to Trump if he continued to run, and after several House Democrats publicly predicted on Tuesday that Biden would lose.

“Let’s link arms. Let’s get this done — you, me, the vice president, together,” Biden said.

“We will not back down. We will follow our president’s lead. We will fight, and we will win,” Harris told her campaign staff.

During his presidency, Biden has occasionally shown frustration with Harris.

In his book 'The Fight of His Life', published in 2023, author Chris Whipple noted that Biden viewed Harris as a "work in progress".

Kamala Harris slammed as she is called 'future' of Democratic Party

As soon as Karine Jean-Pierre's remarks about Kamala Harris surfaced on the internet, social media users brutally slammed the Vice President.

One social media user wrote, "No one likes her. Some people pretend to like her because they want to keep their job. She will be installed as president. She will never be elected as president."

Another added, "Shes literally done nothing since being VP."

One person claimed, "She is not going to be president..."

"In other words, we have no future," another remarked.

One individual wrote, "That is a terrible future."
