WASHINGTON, DC: Former vice president Kamala Harris called Anderson Cooper a "mother******" after the CNN host grilled her during an interview over former president Joe Biden’s catastrophic debate performance against President Donald Trump in June 2024, a new book claimed.

The 82-year-old disastrous debate performance ignited widespread panic, which ultimately led the former president to drop out of the presidential race and endorse Harris as the Democratic nominee.

Kamala Harris was visibly angry after Anderson Cooper pressed her on Joe Biden's poor debate performance

The book, 'Original Sin: President Biden's Decline, Its Cover-up, and His Disastrous Choice to Run Again', which has been co-authored by Anderson Cooper’s CNN colleague Jake Tapper and Axios' Alex Thompson, revealed, "'This motherf***** doesn’t treat me like the damn vice president of the United States,' she said to colleagues. 'I thought we were better than that.'"

Harris downplayed concerns from her party when she appeared on CNN on the night of the debate. She was apparently encouraged by her aides to cancel all post-debate interviews after Biden seemed frail and stone-faced, often losing his train of thought while going against Trump, per the New York Post.

During the interview, Cooper talked about Democrats describing "panic" over Biden’s "disaster" of a debate. He asked if the then-president should step aside.

Harris fought back and told Cooper that Biden had a "slow start" but finished "strong."

She said, "People can debate on style points," as Cooper pressed, "I got the point that you’re making about a one-and-a-half-hour debate tonight — I’m talking about three and a half years of performance and work that has been historic."

As per the book, Harris, who was visibly angry when the interview was over, wielded the expletive against Cooper, even though many in Biden’s circle cheered on Harris’s strong defense.

Co-authors Tapper and Thompson wrote in their book that Harris took Cooper's questions personally.

Book reveals Joe Biden was 'rusty' as he struggled during debate preparation

The book, which was released on May 20, also revealed that Joe Biden was "rusty" as he struggled during debate preparation.

Talking about the mock debates, the authors wrote, "Biden’s performance ranged from bad to passable … His voice was hard to hear, his delivery was halting, and his answers were all over the place."

They mentioned, "Advisers also told him his mouth was agape when he wasn’t speaking and urged him to close it. His voice got raspier as the week went on, to the point that aides couldn’t hear him during mock sessions. Biden kept asking for more cough drops."

Biden ended up getting a cold, which he blamed on his disastrous performance that ended up making him the first duly elected president not to seek a second term since Lyndon Johnson in 1968.

Meanwhile, the book also mentioned that Biden's aides tried to limit his exposure to public scrutiny in "subtle ways."

"When a group wanted Biden to tape a five-minute video address to keynote an event, the White House usually responded by saying the video would be one to two minutes," the authors wrote in the book.

One commented, "Kamala Harris thinks people should automatically treat her with respect, that she doesn’t have to earn it first," while another added, "Imagine if she won the election!? She can't handle even a minimal amount of pressure. Try to imagine her going toe to toe with foreign leaders."

A person remarked, "Harris and Walz would be great characters in a Disney animated comedy blockbuster," whereas someone else mentioned, "Any executive should be capable of thinking on there feet as well as be prepared for any question. Clearly she never was. Unprepared and unprofessional."

"She was a joke. And will always be a joke. Anyone who seriously thought she was presidential material is living in an alternate world concocted by Hollywood. The country dodged a catastrophic bullet when she lost," an individual said.
