WASHINGTON, DC: President Donald Trump warned Iran of further military action on Friday, March 13, claiming the United States was “totally destroying” the country’s leadership and military capabilities as tensions between the two nations intensified.

In a social media post, Trump said Iran was being defeated “militarily, economically, and otherwise,” while accusing sections of the media of misrepresenting the situation. The US president also vowed additional strikes against what he called the “te**orist regime of Iran,” saying American forces possessed overwhelming military strength.

Trump vows more action on Iran

Trump issued the warning in a lengthy social media message, asserting that Iranian military infrastructure had been devastated by US actions.

“We are totally destroying the te**orist regime of Iran, militarily, economically, and otherwise, yet, if you read the Failing New York Times, you would incorrectly think that we are not winning,” Trump wrote.

“Iran’s Navy is gone, their Air Force is no longer, missiles, drones and everything else are being decimated, and their leaders have been wiped from the face of the earth,” he wrote.

The president also emphasized Washington’s military capabilities, stating, “We have unparalleled firepower, unlimited ammunition, and plenty of time - Watch what happens to these deranged s***bags today."

Media criticism and escalation

Trump also criticized The New York Times, accusing the outlet of portraying the conflict in a way that suggested the United States was not “winning.”

“They’ve been killing innocent people all over the world for 47 years, and now I, as the 47th President of the United States of America, am killing them. What a great honor it is to do so!” he stated in the same message.

The remarks came amid rising tensions in West Asia after Iran launched multiple drone attacks early on March 13 targeting Gulf Arab states, including Saudi Arabia, following warnings from its new supreme leader about hosting American military bases.
