Kamala Harris lauded for 'good work' as Rachel Maddow says VP raised $81M without ‘committing felonies’
WASHINGTON, DC: MSNBC anchor Rachel Maddow took to the airwaves to highlight Vice President Kamala Harris’ extraordinary fundraising success following President Joe Biden’s withdrawal from the 2024 presidential race and his endorsement of her as his successor.
According to the Dailybeast, In a sharp observation, Maddow pointed out that Harris’ fundraising achievement surpassed the amount raised by Donald Trump on his best day, despite Trump’s criminal convictions earlier this year.
Kamala Harris’ historic $81 million fundraising surge
In a press release issued on Monday afternoon, Kamala Harris’ campaign proudly announced that they had raised an astounding $81 million in just 24 hours from over 880,000 individual donors. Remarkably, about 60 percent of these donors were contributing to the 2024 campaign for the first time.
For context, Donald Trump had his most successful fundraising day in late May after being found guilty on all 34 felony counts related to falsifying business records to benefit his 2016 presidential campaign.
On that day, Trump raised $53 million, which was a significant achievement but fell short compared to Harris’ record-breaking fundraising total.
Rachel Maddow compares Kamala Harris' fundraising triumph to Donald Trump's best day
Rachel Maddow opened her special coverage of Kamala Harris’ entrance into the 2024 race by drawing a comparison between the fundraising scenarios of the two candidates.
“The New York Times described this tonight as a record-breaking showing as Democrats welcomed her candidacy with one of the greatest gushers of cash of all time. Indeed, it is believed to be the single largest day of fundraising by any candidate for any office in American history,” Maddow said.
“Incredibly, the Republican Party’s nearest boast to that is that they had a great day of fundraising,” Maddow continued. “Their best day of fundraising [was] on the day their candidate was convicted on 34 felony criminal charges. And they did have their best day that day. Trump raised about $53 million that day. Looks like Kamala Harris, all in, will roughly double that. And she didn’t have to commit any felonies at all to do it.”
The enthusiasm for Harris’ campaign was also reflected in a significant uptick in support for Democratic causes. The fundraising platform ActBlue, which supports various Democratic candidates and causes, saw a notable surge in donations.
Additionally, the super PAC Future Forward received a remarkable $150 million commitment, as reported by Politico. In tandem with the financial boost, over 28,000 new volunteers signed up to support Harris’ bid for the White House.

Another stated, "I like my presidents that have no felonies… and no pedophiles… and no cheaters… and no liars… and no insurrectionists… and no draft dodgers… and no one insulting veterans… and no older than 77."
