WASHINGTON, DC: The West Wing might’ve been the goal, but apparently even chicken wings were out of reach for Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign.

Harris’ team revealed that their pitch to appear on 'Hot Ones' — the wildly popular YouTube series where guests eat scorching hot wings while being grilled with questions — was rejected.

Kamala Harris snubbed by 'Hot Ones'

In a new episode of 'Pod Save America', the top brass from Kamala Harris’ 2024 presidential campaign sat down to dissect their failed bid for the White House. While discussing what went wrong, the team admitted they tried—and failed—to book Harris on 'Hot Ones'.

According to Stephanie Cutter, Harris’ media strategist at the time, the show gave them a polite “no thanks” and said they avoid political guests entirely.

“‘Hot Ones,’ which is a great show, didn’t wanna do any politics, so they weren’t going to take us or [Trump],” Cutter shared. Apparently, this was part of a larger trend: Harris’ campaign couldn’t crack non-political media circles at all. “We got that reaction across the board,” Cutter added.

It's worth noting that 'Hot Ones' has never hosted a political candidate in its nearly decade-long run. Even so, the rejection was a bitter pill for Harris’ team to swallow.

The campaign’s frustration didn’t stop there. During the chat, former campaign chairwoman Jen O’Malley Dillon couldn’t help but vent about how easily Donald Trump managed to book appearances on popular, non-political platforms.

“I don’t think he had the same problem,” O’Malley Dillon said, noting that Trump seemed to “tap into some cultural elements” that Harris just couldn’t.

Donald Trump's podcast appearances and the Joe Rogan drama

And she wasn’t wrong. In the lead-up to the election, Donald Trump made appearances on 'The Joe Rogan Experience', 'Theo Von’s This Past Weekend', golfer Bryson DeChambeau’s 'Break 50', Barstool Sports’ 'Bussin’ with the Boys', and even pro-wrestling legend The Undertaker’s podcast 'Six Feet Under'. He even appeared on a livestream with popular Kick streamer Adin Ross.

It's worth noting that Trump spent a full three hours chatting with Joe Rogan in Austin on the same day Harris held an event with Beyonce in Houston.

Oh, but there’s more. While Harris failed to land a spot on 'Hot Ones', her team reportedly did get an invite to 'The Joe Rogan Experience'. However, it quickly turned into a scheduling mess.

Rogan revealed that Harris’ campaign wanted him to travel to her location for a short, sub-one-hour interview. Considering Rogan’s episodes often stretch to three hours or more, the proposal was a hard pass.

David Plouffe, a senior adviser to Harris, claimed the team later offered to meet Rogan in Austin but suggested that the invite may have been used as a tactic to secure Trump as a guest instead.

“So what’s clear is we offered to do it in Austin, people should know that. It didn’t work out. Maybe they leveraged that to get Trump in the studio, I don’t know, and then we were obviously not going to be back in Texas, but offered to do it on the road,” Plouffe explained.

Either way, Trump got his epic Rogan stream, while Harris was left empty-handed.

Kamala Harris mocked on social media over snub

When news of the 'Hot Ones' snub broke, social media was quick to roast Kamala Harris.

"Did they know she came from a middle-class family?" one posted on X.

"Did she want to bring her own hot sauce?" a second user asked.

"Kamala’s team probably wanted 'fake sauce' on the wings!" another speculated.

"Her people said she was only allowed to try 3 hot sauces and they weren’t allowed to be red," someone else joked.

"Sources said, Kamala's campaign couldn't decide between fried chicken and curry chicken," read a comment.

"Imagine the accent she would have put on for that one. She’d switch from creole to the PJs to god only knows what else: 'OOOH LORDY DAT CHICKEN HOT,'" another cracked.
