RALEIGH, NORTH CAROLINA: Vice President Kamala Harris will visit North Carolina on Friday, August 16, for a campaign rally, according to her office.

The event in Raleigh, NC, will be a policy-driven rally where she will discuss “her plan to lower costs for middle-class families and take on corporate price-gouging,” a campaign official said.

Kamala Harris promises to end taxes on tipping if elected president

At a rally in Las Vegas on Saturday, August 10, Harris declared that, should she be elected president, she would be in favor of repealing tip taxes, a position that has gained popularity with former president Donald Trump during his campaign. A budget watchdog predicted that the proposed cost may reach $200 billion over a ten-year period.

Harris will make her seventh trip to North Carolina this year on Friday, August 16.  Due to Tropical Storm Debby, she had to postpone her journey to the state last week.

Kamala Harris will also travel to Maryland this week

The goal of both the Kamala Harris campaign and President Joe Biden's previous reelection campaign has been to flip North Carolina in November. The state was won by former president Donald Trump in 2020. Alongside Biden, Harris will go to Maryland on Thursday, August 15, for an event that centers around cost-cutting measures.

Governor Tim Walz (D) of Minnesota, her running companion, is embarking on his first campaign tour alone. After spending Tuesday in California, he will visit Colorado, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and New York, reported The Hill.

Internet ridicules Kamala Harris for failing to come up with the policy earlier

Netizens berated Kamala Harris for not coming up with the new policy during her three-and-a-half year tenure as the vice president. One X user asked, "Why didn't she share this plan with the White House over the last 3 years?" Another tweeted the same, "Are people this stupid? If she wanted to lower costs, why hasn't she already? Don't buy into the lie."

"Woman in office says she will fix things when she is elected in office. Make it make sense," added a user. "The costs she told us were low and fabulous for 3 1/2 yrs. Those high costs she helped cause," remarked one. "She’s been keeping these plans secret for 3 1/2 years," said someone else.
