WASHINGTON, DC: Nancy Pelosi, the former Democratic Speaker of the House, chastised former president Donald Trump on Friday, August 9, for his deflating remarks on Vice President Kamala Harris' intelligence level.

“I don’t pay attention to what he has to say,” Pelosi told MSNBC host Joy Reid on 'The ReidOut'. “It’s pathetic.”

Donald Trump said Kamala Harris is 'not smart enough' at his Mar-a-Lago press meet

Donald Trump claimed that Kamala Harris is "not smart enough to do a news conference" during a press conference on Thursday at his Mar-a-Lago home.

Harris has been under fire from the former president's campaign for refusing to answer questions from the media since the beginning of her campaign last month.

Nancy Pelosi says Kamala Harris is 'the best person to run' for victory

Kamala Harris answered some questions from reporters who accompanied her to Michigan on Thursday, and she stated that she would like to conduct a longer interview before August ends.

“Let’s just talk about her as the best person to run and lead us to victory as president of the United States,” Pelosi said of Harris. “She happens to be a woman, and that’s icing on the cake.”

Nancy Pelosi reportedly forced Joe Biden to opt out of presidential race

With President Joe Biden's withdrawal from the candidacy for president, Kamala Harris has attracted a lot of fervor and energy from her party.

Although Pelosi has denied attempting to persuade Biden to withdraw from the race, The Hill has revealed that she pressed for him to do so out of the public eye.

“No, I wasn’t a leader of any pressure party,” Pelosi said in a recent interview. “Well, let me say things that I didn’t do. I didn’t call one person. I did not call one person. I could always say to him, ‘I never called anybody.’ What I’m saying is, I had confidence that the president would make the proper choice for our country, whatever that would be, and I said that. ‘Whatever that is, we’ll go with.’”

According to an average of national surveys from The Hill/Decision Desk HQ, the vice president and the former president are currently tied, with Harris trailing Trump by only 0.2 points.

Internet rips Nancy Pelosi for defending Kamala Harris' media silence

Netizens scorned the ex-House speaker and the current Democratic presidential nominee after the former defended Harris for not opening up to the media despite facing repeated criticisms from the Republicans.

One X user asked Pelosi, "Then why hasn’t @VP had and press conferences or answered a single question since stealing the nomination from Biden?"

Another tweeted, while hinting at Harris, "Then why will she not take questions from the media without a script?"

"I find you stabbing a friend in the back to try to win an election pathetic," added one user.

Someone else remarked, "She’s deflecting as usual. Kamala repeats the same campaign speech over and over. She hasn’t had an unscripted Q&A since June. No policy initiatives on her website. Also, Nancy said Joe was sharp as a tack, a couple of months ago."
