Kamala Harris signals possible 2028 presidential run amid increased political visibility: Report
WASHINGTON, DC: Former Vice President Kamala Harris seems to be moving in the direction of another presidential run in 2028, as per a recent report by Axios, which could mean that the former VP is getting ready to make a comeback in the national scene after her defeat in the 2024 election by President Donald Trump.
Harris hasn't made a definite statement about running for office, but according to Axios, people familiar with her suggest that she is seriously contemplating a return to the presidential race and getting ready for it.

Harris continues to be one of the leading candidates in the majority of the Democratic primary polls for 2028, in spite of the concerns expressed by party leaders and donors about her ability to win.

Moreover, she enjoys considerable backing from the African-American community, the most influential voting bloc in the last Democratic presidential primaries.
According to Axios, Harris has recently increased her political visibility and private outreach, moves viewed by allies as early steps toward a potential 2028 bid.
She announced many more stops on her tour to promote '107 Days,' an account of her short presidential campaign last year.
Democratic nomination contest for 2028 is expected to be highly competitive
Despite the reported interest, Harris currently faces long odds among political bettors. According to Polymarket, a cryptocurrency-based prediction market, Harris has about a 5% chance of becoming the Democratic nominee in 2028.
In a tirade to Democratic officials on Friday, she vehemently opposed not only the two parties but also the system.
Several people present at the meeting who spoke with Axios expressed that they were very much surprised by the contrast between the comments made by Harris and her friendly message to Biden during last year's campaign.
"Both parties have failed to hold the public's trust," Harris said.
"Government is viewed as fundamentally unable to meet the needs of its people…. People are done with the status quo, and they're ready to break things to force change," she continued.
After the speech, some committee members told Axios they want Harris to run in 2028 and that when Harris mentioned ‘the future’ during her speech, someone shouted, ‘You!’
California Governor Gavin Newsom has been depicted by a number of early polls as a potentially strong candidate for the 2028 nomination, while Morning Consult has most of the time reported Harris as the leader.
However, the last two polls in New Hampshire, a state that has always been very influential, show that Harris is behind both Newsom and ex-Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg.
