WASHINGTON, DC: Karine Jean-Pierre rebuked Fox News' Peter Doocy during a heated exchange at a press briefing on Thursday, July 25.

The White House Press secretary slammed Peter Doocy for overlooking a significant decline in illegal crossings at the United States-Mexico border during a heated exchange at a press briefing.

Peter Doocy questions Kamala Harris' efforts on border protection

During the briefing, Peter Doocy questioned Karine Jean-Pierre about Vice President Kamala Harris' efforts to address the root causes of mass migration to the southern border, an issue that has presented political challenges for Joe Biden throughout his four-year term.

However, Jean-Pierre swiftly countered Doocy's line of questioning by pointing out the recent successes in curbing illegal immigration.

"Did you not hear the beginning? ... I talked about what we're seeing at the border. [Border crossings are] down by 55 percent," she said.

"Not because of Republicans in Congress and what they did, it's because of what this president and this vice president did," she added.

Decline in US border crossings

The White House press secretary's remarks come amid reports of a dramatic reduction in border crossing following an executive order issued by Joe Biden that temporarily closed the asylum system until border crossings reached a manageable level, according to Raw Story.

Earlier this week, CBS News reported that July is set to witness a drop in migrant apprehensions along the US-Mexico border for the fifth consecutive month.

This reduction is also the lowest level in illegal immigrant crossings since the fall of 2020 during Donald Trump's administration, as per the figures shown by the internal Department of Homeland Security.

Karine Jean-Pierre's criticism of Republican opposition

Criticizing Republicans for blocking resources that could further aid the control of migration at the border, Karine Jean-Pierre said, "Republicans continue to block resources to the Border Patrol agents.

"They continue to block actually dealing with an immigration system," she added.

Internet slams Peter Doocy over heated exchange with Karine Jean-Pierre

As Karine Jean-Pierre rebuked Peter Doocy for his questions over illegal crossings at the US-Mexico border despite the press secretary emphasizing the administration's success in curbing the issue, netizens applauded her argument against the White House correspondent for Fox News.

"Ouch....savage mic drop right on Doocy's face," a user on X (formerly Twitter) wrote while another user tweeted, "Has he ever just considered flushing himself down the toilet?"

"I love seeing him get owned," a netizen commented and someone remarked, "Good for you KJP! Light him up!"

"The look on Doocy’s face is priceless," a user tweeted while a netizen wrote, "She handled that really well! She was on fire!"

"Doocy is that kid in class who, after the teacher has explained what the lesson is on, what page to be on, and is halfway through the class, then interrupts and says, "What page are we on?" an individual opined.
