WASHINGTON, DC: Karine Jean-Pierre, former White House press secretary under President Joe Biden, is embracing life beyond the political sphere.

Speaking at the opening night of 'Othello' on Broadway, she shared how she has been spending her time since stepping away from the podium, and why she has no regrets about leaving her high-profile role.

Jean-Pierre attended the latest Broadway adaptation of 'Othello', starring Denzel Washington and Jake Gyllenhaal.

The experience, she says, is just one of the many joys she’s relishing in her post-White House life.

“It was an honor and a privilege to have the job and to have done it for two and a half years, but I don't miss it,” Jean-Pierre admitted.

Since leaving the administration in January 2025, Jean-Pierre has taken time for herself, prioritizing “self-care, sleep, hanging out with my family, hanging out with my friends.”

Jean-Pierre made history as the first Black and first openly LGBTQ person to serve as White House press secretary, a role she held from May 2022 to January 2025 after succeeding Jen Psaki.

Before that, she worked as chief of staff for Vice President Kamala Harris during the 2020 presidential campaign.

During her first press briefing in 2022, she acknowledged the significance of her appointment.

"It's a real honor to be standing here today ... I appreciate the historic nature,” she said at the time.

“I believe that being behind this podium, being in this room, being in this building, is not about one person. It’s about what we do on behalf of the American people,” she added.

What’s next for Karine Jean-Pierre?

While she has not announced her next professional move, Karine Jean-Pierre has no shortage of opportunities.

For now, the 50-year-old is simply enjoying personal time and indulging in cultural experiences, including seeing one of her favorite Shakespeare plays.

“To support Broadway, to come out and see the plays and the musicals, and having an opportunity to see Denzel Washington do Shakespeare … I cannot wait. I cannot wait to see him on the stage,” she said excitedly.
