MANHATTAN, NEW YORK: Attorney George Conway recently predicted the possible outcome of former President Donald Trump's hush money trial as it nears conclusion.

The closing arguments in the historic trial, which has been underway since mid-April, will begin on Tuesday, May 28, after its short Memorial Day recess.

George Conway says he doesn't see a good outcome for Donald Trump in the hush money trial

During his appearance on MSNBC, George, a known critic of Trump, said, "The defense has its work cut out for it. But all the defense has to do is convince one juror to hang the group. I don't think they can get an acquittal. I don't think they're going to get 12 votes unanimously to acquit him."

The trial, one of four criminal cases looming over the ex-POTUS, focuses on allegations that he orchestrated a $130,000 payment to Stormy Daniels ahead of the 2016 election to silence her about an alleged affair.

The jury, comprising a diverse array of professionals including a corporate lawyer, an investment banker, a software engineer, and a teacher, seems poised to deliver a verdict that could further shape Trump's post-presidency legacy.

George's grim assessment centers on the perceived difficulty the defense faces in swaying the jury. The attorney suggests that even convincing a single juror to hold out could be a daunting task for Trump's legal team.

Citing damning evidence, including Trump's signature on checks and efforts to conceal pertinent information, George sees little room for a favorable verdict.

He expressed, "I'm not sure how a good outcome, other than a luck of the draw mistrial on a hung jury - 11 to 1, or 10 to 2 - I don't see a good outcome for Donald Trump from this."

Throughout the trial, testimonies have implicated Trump deeply, leaving the jury with a challenging task: to determine whether his actions constituted a violation of campaign finance laws.

"All of the testimony that we've heard just has Trump neck-deep in all of this," said George, adding, "And it's going to be hard for the jury not to conclude that he didn't cause all of this. And it's going to be hard for the jury not to conclude that the purpose of it was to aid the election campaign, in which case, it was a campaign finance violation."

Meanwhile, tensions have escalated outside the courtroom, with Trump's supporters expressing concerns about the impartiality of Judge Juan Merchan, who is presiding over the case.

Alina Habba calls Judge Juan Merchan 'severely conflicted'

Accusations of bias and concerns about the judge's instructions to the jury have fueled apprehension among Trump's legal team, who see this as their last line of defense against what they perceive as a politically motivated prosecution.

Alina Habba, who represented Trump during his E Jean Carroll trial, claimed, "Judge Merchan is severely conflicted. At this point, I have zero confidence that this person, who shouldn't be sitting on the bench right now, will give jury instructions in an appropriate manner without any persuasion towards the prosecution. The last resort for this prosecution is this judge," as per Daily Mail

After the closing arguments, Judge Merchan will deliver his instructions to the jury before they proceed with deliberations.

On the other hand, optimism is seen among some of Trump's allies, who believe that jurors with a firm grasp of the law and facts will surely come to his defense.

"I want to tell you what, there's a silver lining in this, Alina," said Fox News host Sean Duffy, adding, "I don't want a juror on Thursday or Friday going into Memorial Day weekend to go, you know what? I got a party going on. I want to end this case early. I think it could bode well for President Trump, for those people on the jury who understand the law and the facts to fight for him and fight for justice."

He was assuring Habba as she fretted over Judge Merchan failing to sequester the jury during the Memorial Day weekend.

Internet reacts to George Conway's predictions regarding Donald Trump's fate in the hush money trial

One YouTube user quipped, "I just pray that Trump is charged as an adult," and another added, "I don't see a good outcome for America, if Donald Trump is reelected."

A person commented, "His karma is hitting him like a pie in the face, but it's in very slow-motion for all of us to enjoy." "Trump should have been in prison already," declared someone else.

One more said, "George, save your wife from Trump. You need to get as far away from him as possible," referring to the attorney's divorce from Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway.

Another person expressed, "Incredible weight on that jury. Gotta have faith in justice," while a netizen remarked, "Guilty on all charges is the only legitimate outcome."
