Karoline Leavitt praises Trump as most informed person in the room: 'He doesn't miss anything'
WASHINGTON, DC: Karoline Leavitt offered a mix of humor and personal insight while speaking about Donald Trump during a Turning Point USA event at George Washington University, where she joked about the President’s reputation in the room.
During her conversation with Erika Kirk, Leavitt made a remark that quickly stood out as she spoke about leadership and preparation.
“You always want to be the most well-read person in the room, and I try to be every day. But Donald Trump always is,” she said, drawing laughter from the audience. "That man does not miss a story. Let me tell you, he is always reading the papers and watching the TV. He doesn’t miss anything anyone says in the whole world. I don’t know how he does it and consumes it all. And it’s a lot.”

Karoline Leavitt reflects on her path to the White House
Leavitt also spoke candidly about how she ended up as White House press secretary, describing a process that was far from traditional.
She explained that after losing her congressional race, she stayed involved in politics by working on Trump’s campaign, eventually stepping into a key communications role.
“There really wasn’t a process,” Leavitt said, recalling how she moved into the position of national press secretary during the campaign.
Her entry into the campaign itself came unexpectedly. She said she was contacted about joining MAGA Inc. as a spokesperson and immediately agreed.
“I said, ‘heck, yeah,’” she recalled, describing how one opportunity led to another.
Leavitt later took on a larger role after being asked to serve as the campaign’s spokesperson, staying with the team through election day and beyond.
A casual phone call sealed her role as press secretary
One of the most striking moments from her remarks was how she described receiving the job offer to become White House press secretary.
After the election victory, Leavitt said she wasn’t sure if she would be part of the administration at all.
“And so after we won and we knew we were going to the White House, I thought, hmm. I hope I’ll get a job. I don’t know if I will,” she said.
But about a week later, Trump made the decision in a way that she said felt very on-brand.
“He goes, ‘Oh, by the way, you know you’re going to be the White House press secretary, right?’” Leavitt recalled.
Her response was simple: “Oh, okay.”
She added that Trump quickly moved on to another topic during the same call, making the moment feel even more informal.
“That’s how I got the job. So there was no pomp and circumstance. He just said it, and here we are. True Donald Trump fashion,” she said.
Trump’s teasing remark adds to their dynamic
Leavitt’s remarks at the event come alongside a recent moment in the Oval Office where Trump made a joking comment about her performance.
While speaking to reporters about media coverage, Trump turned to Leavitt and said, “maybe Karoline is doing a poor job, I don’t know.”
“She’s my representative,” he added. “You’re doing a terrible job. Should we keep her? I think we’ll keep her.”
The comment drew laughter in the room, indicating it was meant in jest rather than criticism.
