Kate Cassidy shares final video with Liam Payne on second anniversary of his death
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Kate Cassidy paid tribute to Liam Payne on Friday, October 16, sharing a video of their final moments together as she remembered the former One Direction member two years after his death.
Payne died from polytrauma, involving multiple traumatic injuries, internal bleeding, and external hemorrhaging, after falling from a third-floor hotel balcony in Argentina.

In the video, Payne lifted Cassidy over his head as she squealed with delight before the pair smiled for the camera during a gloomy outing at a farm. The 27-year-old shared the clip with a heartfelt message: “Treasure every moment with the people you love. Forever grateful this was our last hour, our last video, our last moment together. Until the next life, I’ll see you again one day.”
Cassidy captioned the post with a red heart emoji and the words “2 years.” The tribute came exactly two years after Payne died in October 2024 following a fall from a third-floor balcony at a hotel in Buenos Aires.
He was 31 and shared a nine-year-old son, Bear, with his ex, Cheryl Cole.

Since Payne’s death, Cassidy has spoken openly about the impact of losing her partner. In a TikTok video shared on June 22, she discussed the difficulties of dating after losing someone she believed she would spend the rest of her life with.
“Dating after losing somebody that you genuinely thought you were gonna spend the rest of your life with is really tough,” she said, adding that she physically looks for Payne in every man she meets. She explained that if someone does not meet all her expectations, she tends to withdraw or resent the person, describing the experience as difficult to understand.
Cassidy has also spoken about removing several tattoos she got done in Payne’s honor, including angel wings, a star, and the number four, which represented their angel number. However, she clarified in a July 29 TikTok that the decision was purely aesthetic. The tattoos were among her first, and she wanted them redone by someone experienced in fine-line tattoos and repositioned.
Kate Cassidy reflects on grief and life after Liam Payne’s death
Cassidy previously shared a tribute to Payne one week after his death, reflecting on their future together and the life they had planned. “Liam, I know we’ll be together forever, but not in the way we had planned,” she wrote.
“You’ll always be with me. I’ve gained a guardian angel. I will love you for the rest of my life and beyond, carrying our dreams and memories with me everywhere I go,” the 27-year-old influencer added.
In February, Cassidy shared another message about learning to live with loss. “You don’t move on from grief,” she wrote on TikTok. “You move forward with it, carrying love in a different form. Keep living. Keep going. Live your life as fully as you possibly can.”

During an April 2025 episode of 'On Purpose With Jay Shetty', Cassidy acknowledged that some days were harder than others, adding that she was trying her best each day. She credited her family and friends with providing a strong support system and said she was willing to share her experiences if doing so could help someone else.
“I’ve never lost anybody extremely close to me,” she said, explaining that attending her partner’s funeral at 25 was particularly difficult. While trying on her funeral outfit, Cassidy recalled thinking, “I was supposed to be trying on my wedding dress.”
