LONDON, ENGLAND: At her fifth annual ‘Together at Christmas’ carol service, the Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, reminded guests that the simplest acts of compassion can have a profound impact amid moving musical moments and star-studded performances. 

The festive event held at Westminster Abbey also featured a surprise piano duet with her 10-year-old daughter, Princess Charlotte, making this year’s service especially memorable.

Festive celebration with royals and important guests

Kate Middleton’s ‘Together at Christmas’ carol service brought together more than 1,600 invited guests, including members of the Royal Family like Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh, and Zara Tindall and her husband, Mike Tindall.

The theme of this year’s special was centered on love, compassion and human connection.

Kate Middleton’s message of kindness and musical surprise

In her opening remarks, shared via voiceover on social media, the Princess of Wales urged people to embrace gestures of love and presence in everyday life.

'‘Christmas speaks of love taking full bloom in the simplest, most human ways… a moment of listening, a word of comfort, a helping hand,’' Kate said. 

The emotional highlight of the broadcast came when Kate took to the piano alongside Princess Charlotte in a surprise duet, performing Holm Sound by Scottish composer Erland Cooper.

Tradition and Reflection: Kate Middleton’s Christmas past and present

Kate’s annual carol service has become a cherished holiday fixture since its inception in 2021, originally conceived to honor community helpers during the pandemic.

In previous years, she has also played piano publicly performing with singer Tom Walker in 2021, highlighting her longstanding love for music.

The 2025 service continued to blend tradition with heartfelt moments, as the Princess shared her message of connection while celebrating the joys of the season.
