WILMINGTON, DELAWARE: In a high-profile case set to begin on June 3, Hunter Biden, the president's son, is facing weapons charges in Delaware federal court.

Key testimonies will come from his ex-wife, Kathleen Buhle, and two former lovers, Hallie Biden and Zoe Kestan, who are expected to provide detailed accounts of his drug addiction during a critical period in October 2018 when he allegedly lied about his addiction to purchase a handgun.

Prosecutors allege that Hunter Biden, 54, falsely claimed on a federal background check form that he was not a user of controlled substances or an addict when he purchased a firearm on October 12, 2018.

This allegation is supported by evidence, including the discovery of cocaine in the gun’s pouch.

Witnesses and evidence paint a detailed picture of Hunter Biden's struggles and alleged crimes

Hallie Biden, Hunter's sister-in-law turned lover, is expected to confirm that Hunter possessed the Colt Cobra .38 special for 11 days before she disposed of it in a trash can outside a Wilmington supermarket.

Special Counsel David Weiss, who indicted Hunter on three felony counts in September, maintains that Hunter illegally possessed the gun and lied on the background check form.

Although Weiss did not name the witnesses in the filings, their identities have been revealed through public records, data from Hunter’s abandoned laptop, and materials from the House Republicans’ impeachment inquiry into President Biden.

Additionally, Hunter's own memoir, 'Beautiful Things,' provides insights into his tumultuous life during this period.

In a recent interview with the Daily Beast, Hunter Biden contested the characterization of a notorious photo that depicts him asleep with what appears to be a crack pipe in his mouth, claiming it was actually a meth pipe and that the photo was staged.

Nonetheless, text messages obtained by prosecutors show Hunter admitting to drug use and struggling with sobriety over the years, including the time when he bought the gun.

Zoe Kestan, who was in a relationship with Hunter in 2018, has alleged that he smoked crack cocaine "every 20 minutes except when he slept." Kestan testified before a grand jury in February 2022, detailing their relationship and Hunter's heavy drug use during their stays in high-priced hotels.

Kathleen Buhle, Hunter's ex-wife, will provide further evidence of his addiction. In messages from March 2018, Buhle recounted finding crack pipes in the family car and removing them to protect their daughter, who was driving it. Buhle also reported discovering drugs or paraphernalia on numerous occasions, discarding them each time.

The couple's marriage ended with Buhle filing for divorce in 2017, citing Hunter's extravagant spending on drugs, alcohol, and other interests, leaving the family financially strained.

Text messages and memoir excerpts provide insight into Hunter Biden's addiction and legal troubles

A page from Hunter’s memoir, which has been entered into evidence, describes his return to Delaware in the fall of 2018 with hopes of getting clean and reconciling with Hallie.

Text messages corroborate his ongoing struggle with addiction, including a desperate message to Hallie after she discarded his gun, expressing his frustration and feeling of betrayal.

“The f***ing FBI Hallie. It’s hard to believe anyone is that stupid,” Hunter fumed in one message after meeting with law enforcement who recovered the gun in October 2018. “Owning a gun that’s in a locked car hidden on another property? You say I invade your privacy. What more can I do than come back to you to try again? And you do this????”

“Who in their right mind would trust you would help me get sober?” he raged.

In another particularly revealing message, Hunter wrote to Hallie in October 2018, "I was sleeping on a car smoking crack on 4th Street and Rodney."

A month later, he admitted to Hallie, "I’m a liar and a thief and a blamer and a user and I’m delusional and an addict unlike beyond and above all other addicts that you know and I’ve ruined every relationship I’ve ever cherished."

Hunter's defense team, led by Abbe Lowell, may argue that he was unaware of his actions due to his addiction.

However, prosecutors are prepared to counter this with additional text messages and other evidence, including testimony from DEA Supervisory Special Agent Joshua Romig, who will decode Hunter's drug-related language, and FBI Special Agent Erika Jensen.

Despite the gravity of the charges, Hunter's former lover Lunden Roberts, who gave birth to his child in 2018, will not be called to testify, the New York Post reported.

Hunter Biden trolled on social media

Hunter faced widespread mockery on social media after it was revealed that his former lovers would be testifying about his drug addiction.

"Hunter will BURN in court," one posted on X.

"It's like we have two competing storylines live... One of redemption and one of justice. The redemption one is wrapping up, time for JUSTICE!" another wrote.

"How you sleep with your dead brother’s wife," a comment read.

"Talk about keeping it in the family," someone else quipped.

"Call on Jerry Springer to sort out the mess!" another chimed in.
