Kelly Clarkson's daughter tells her she 'likes watching her shine' as singer's talk show ends
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Kelly Clarkson got emotional after her daughter River Rose, 12, told her that she likes “watching her shine” as she bid farewell to her show.
‘The Kelly Clarkson Show’, which began in 2019, has ended after seven seasons. Its final episode aired on Monday, August 31, and Clarkson was joined by her daughter as well as her son, Remington Alexander, 10.
The 44-year-old shared both of her children with her late ex-husband Brandon Blackstock, who died from natural causes in August 2025.
Kelly Clarkson says she's ending her show for her children
During the finale, Clarkson expressed her gratitude for the opportunity while noting her first priority has always been River and Remington.
“My kiddos have always come first. They’re a big reason I did this show, just the stability, the schedule. And they’re also a big reason it’s time to say goodbye,” the singer said.
Continuing further, she stated, “I’m such a proud momma. They’re the greatest kids in the world. When we started, River was in kindergarten. She’s now about to be in middle school, crazy. My son Remington, he had his singing debut on stage with the band, little Frank Sinatra.”
Kelly Clarkson touched by daughter River's comment
Clarkson then asked her children about their favorite moments on the show as her son revealed that he liked talking to Jason Momoa and “singing ‘My Way’ with the band.”
But it was River’s response that made her teary-eyed. “I like watching you shine every single day,” the 12-year-old declared.
Clarkson, in response, said, “Oh no, everything is fine. That’s so sweet! OK, you got me. You just opened me on my own show. I love you, too.”
Kelly Clarkson says 'life is totally out of our control' but how we respond to it is in our control
The ‘Stronger' crooner also thanked her crew and guests as she mentioned, “I end each episode by saying, ‘Have a great day, and if it’s not, change it.’ I say that because while we have to accept that life is totally out of our control, each moment, though, truly depends on how we choose to respond and react to it.”
“You don’t have to attend the negative party you were invited to. I’ve been told by a therapist, so there you go,” Clarkson told the audience as she added, “And if you remind yourself once a day that you have that choice, you know to respond how you really want to be and who you really are inside, I promise that habit is going to become a part of you, and your life will respond to you in return.”
