LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Kelly Clarkson is facing mounting speculation about her long-term future on 'The Kelly Clarkson Show' following a difficult stretch in her personal life that led to a brief, unexplained hiatus from the program earlier this year.

The 43-year-old singer and talk show host stepped away from the set in March for nearly two weeks due to what was described as a “private matter”.

Now, insiders close to Clarkson say the experience has prompted a reevaluation of her priorities and possibly her future in daytime television, per Page Six.

Sources say Kelly Clarkson had a 'moment of clarity' after stepping away

“This has all been very painful for her,” said a source familiar with the production. “The difficulty is that Kelly, like all of us, wants to be liked, and she had to deal with this new moment in her life. She knew she had to step down for a minute.”

While guest hosts like Andy Cohen, Brooke Shields, and Wanda Sykes stepped in during her absence, Clarkson returned on March 18, just in time to mark the show’s 1,000th episode. During the taping, she appeared visibly moved and thanked her audience for sticking with her through the “ups and downs.”

An insider said, “She has her priorities, and her family comes first, but I think she’s been humbled by the whole situation, what has happened has given her a moment of clarity, I think.”

Behind the scenes, the past few years have taken their toll. Clarkson has openly discussed the emotional weight of her 2020 divorce from Brandon Blackstock. Speaking with Apple Music in 2023, she admitted, “Just to be brutally honest, I did not handle (the divorce) well.”

Yet, even as her show continues to perform well, averaging a million viewers daily, there are growing questions about sustainability. According to a TV insider, “It’s a tough job and profit margins are low.”

Production costs remain high, and Clarkson is simultaneously juggling a Vegas residency, a new music label, and parenting two children. Clarkson’s current contract ends in 2026.

“She knows her limits, even on ‘The Voice’, when she was working so hard,” the industry insider shared. “She knew when she needed a refresh – that’s what you’re seeing now.”

They added, “She is a very feeling, sensitive person, as you see on the talk show, and that’s both in her personal and professional life.”
