Lainey Wilson reveals details from final call with Dolly Parton as she pays tribute
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Lainey Wilson is mourning the death of Dolly Parton, who died at the age of 80 on Tuesday, August 25.
In her social media tribute, the 34-year-old singer shared the details of the final call she had with the late country legend, which ranged from relationships and faith to work.

Sharing photos and videos with Parton, Wilson began, “My Dolly. 💛 I felt like you were my friend before we even met.. you made everybody feel that way. But once we became friends, boy did we have a lot to talk about…”
Continuing further, the 'Heart Like a Truck' crooner wrote that the ‘Jolene’ hitmaker had called her “a couple of weeks ago” as they talked about “the business, the sacrifice, how special Carl Dean was to you and how important Duck is to me.”
Dean was Parton’s husband who died last year, and the former NFL player Devlin “Duck” Hodges is Wilson’s husband.

As per Wilson’s tribute, she and Parton also discussed faith, as she stated, “You also told me to take my time reading the book of Revelation and that I might need to go on back to Psalms for a minute to catch my breath. We talked about how we both feel like we were called into this business.”
The 34-year-old then disclosed how Parton told her that she wasn’t finished yet and she completely agreed with it.
“The kind of love and light you shined in your lifetime is the kind that never goes away. I am thankful the Lord gave you a gift, you decided to share it, and the Lord decided to share you with us,” she mentioned.
Concluding her heartfelt tribute, Wilson added, “I can’t wait to see you again and I know when I hug your neck in heaven someday you are still gonna be saying, ‘don’t mess up hair, Lainey girl.’ I will always love you, my friend. 💛🦋.”

This came after Parton’s death was announced by her team as well as her nephew Bryan Seaver, who said in a social media video that “this video announcement is something Dolly asked of me years ago, before I fully absorbed it as a future reality.”
“It is an honor, an honor that is mixed with absolute pride and great sadness. But sadness lies with us, not with Dolly. Dolly has lived in the light and is in the arms of Jesus,” Seaver added.
