Beyonce, Julia Roberts, Oprah, Paul McCartney lead A-list tributes to Dolly Parton after her death

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Tributes have begun to pour in for Dolly Parton, who died on August 25 at the age of 80. Hollywood A-listers, like Beyonce, Julia Roberts, Oprah Winfrey and Paul McCartney, among many others, have honored the music legend by sharing her memories.

The global icon breathed her last on August 25 in Nashville, Tennessee. As per her team’s statement, she died “after bravely facing a brief battle with cancer,” and was “surrounded by loved ones” in her final hours.

Paul McCartney, Julia Roberts, Beyonce lead tributes for Dolly Parton

After the news of the tragedy came to light, Paul McCartney took to his Instagram to share a tribute, where he called Parton a “magnificent star,” and recalled, “I first met her in Nashville at the Grand Ole Opry where she had been playing with the country star Porter Wagoner and was about to start her solo career.”

“She was so bubbly and full of life it is difficult to take in the news that she has passed,” he added.

Beyonce honored the late star on her website by calling her “the barometer. The North Star. Bold and brilliant. Talented and tenacious.”

“You taught so many lessons on how to be uniquely oneself. I am grateful for your art, your heart, your generosity, your humor, your entrepreneurship,” the singer wrote, before adding, “I'm honored that I had the privilege to work with you. I will treasure that forever.”

Parton had worked with Beyonce for her 2024 album, ‘Cowboy Carter.’

Julia Roberts, who worked with the late star in ‘Steel Magnolias,’, issued a statement to Page Six, saying, “Dolly was a magical and joyous human. I hold knowing her as a treasure in my life. The sun has dimmed today.”

Elton John took to Instagram Stories to pay tribute to Parton, whom he called “a giant of an artist.”

Oprah Winfrey also mourned the loss of Parton by sharing a throwback photo of the two and writing, “One of my fondest memories with @dollyparton: Having a hoot and a holler while wearing Bob Mackie gowns on her show Dolly.”

Reba McEntire expressed her devastation over the passing of Parton by posting several photos of herself with the late icon. In her tribute, she mentioned, “There will never ever be another you. We will remember and cherish every memory and every note you ever played and sang.”

Another Hollywood icon, Sally Field, who starred in ‘Steel Magnolias’ alongside Parton, compared the latter to an “angel” in touching social media tribute.

Entertainment icon Carol Burnett said she and Parton “were a family” in heartfelt post. 

Parton's grief-stricken ‘9 to 5’ co-star, Lily Tomlin, also took to Instagram to share a tribute, only writing “no words.”

Mick Jagger’s tribute for Parton read, “What a wonderful songwriter and singer Dolly was. She brought so many people together, we will all miss her so much.”

Music legend Dionne Warwick said her “heart is heavy” following “friend” Parton's passing. 

Hollywood legend Goldie Hawn compared Parton to “a ray of light” and took to Instagram to share a photo from her first-ever meeting with the late legend.

Parton's fellow American icon Barbra Streisand remembered Parton as “a true force of nature.”

Celine Dion gave a nod to Parton's iconic song ‘I Will Always Love You,’ and said,  “We will always love you” in a heartwarming tribute.

Meanwhile, Paula Abdul wrote, “So heartbroken to hear of Dolly’s passing. I loved her dearly and feel so grateful that I had the opportunity to work with her.”

Queen Latifah shared, “If Dolly taught me anything, it’s to never have these folks catch you lacking.”

Parton's fellow entertainment icon, Bette Midler, also shared she is “devastated” and dubbed the tragedy as a “terrible loss.”

Sabrina Carpenter called Parton “an angel walking the earth,” as she remembered their time together. “There will never be another you and how lucky are we all to have experienced your singular magic,” she further added.

Billy Ray Cyrus, whose daughter pop icon Miley Cyrus is Parton's goddaughter, said, “She was a part of our lives, on our TV’s, right in our living rooms.” He further added, “I will always love her in the same way... with my whole heart.”

Anne Hathaway also took to social media to mourn Parton's loss, writing, “heaven just got one of its own back.”

Shania Twain shared her 'Coat of Many Colors' performance with Parton and said the late country legend was  pure light sent from heaven.”

Reese Witherspoon took to Instagram to share an emotional throwback video with Parton, and wrote, “I count my lucky stars that I called Dolly my friend.”

Actress Jamie Lee-Curtis said Parton is “a great example for us all.”

Jennifer Hudson shared, “Dolly Parton taught us that a woman can be powerful, beautiful and talented, and still be kind.”

Singer-songwriter Sia called Parton a ‘legend’ and wrote, “you will be sorely missed.”

Actor-director Russell Crowe mentioned, “There’s only ever going to be one Dolly Parton.”

Singer-songwriter Kelly Clarkson said, “I will miss her heart and her voice as I am sure millions will.”

Country icon Tim McGraw shared, “She was an icon and showed us all what was possible, not only as a human but as an entertainer.”F

Fellow country star Kacey Musgraves added, “The world feels a lot less sparkly all of a sudden.”

Another country artist Maren Morris said, “there will never be another” like Parton.

As tributes continue to pour in, representatives confirmed to TMZ that Parton will be laid to rest beside her husband, Carl Dean.
