Julia Roberts says she didn’t even know how to play Anna Scott
One of the reasons why Julia was hesitant to take the role of Anna Scott was that she felt uncomfortable with the character’s personality and behavior.
She said, “Honestly, one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do was ['Notting Hill'].
"Playing a movie actress, I was so uncomfortable! I mean, we’ve talked about this so many times, but I almost didn’t take the part because it just seemed – oh, it just seemed so awkward, I didn’t even know how to play that person," she added.

Julia Roberts says she felt 'loathed' being dressed as a movie star
Another challenge that Julia faced was the costume design for Anna Scott. She said that she hated wearing the glamorous outfits that Anna Scott was supposed to wear.
Roberts said that she “loathed” being dressed as a movie star and preferred her casual clothes as the Daily Mail too reported.
She even asked her driver to fetch some of her own items from her flat for a crucial scene in the film.
Roberts said, “My driver, lovely Tommy, I sent him back to my flat that morning, I said, ‘Go into my bedroom and grab this, this and this out of my closet’, and it was my own flip-flops and my cute little blue velvet skirt and a T-shirt and my cardigan.”
She wore these clothes in the iconic scene where Anna declares her love for William Thacker (Hugh Grant) by saying “I’m just a girl.”
