WASHINGTON, DC: Republican National Committee Co-chair Lara Trump claimed former president Donald Trump was leading the nation even while he was not holding the top office during an interview with Fox News host Maria Bartiromo on the June 30 episode of 'Sunday Morning Futures'.

The daughter-in-law of the presumptive GOP nominee also talked about the potential problems faced by the Democrats should they choose to replace President Joe Biden as their potential nominee and go with someone like Vice President Kamala Harris, in light of the former's abysmal performance at the first presidential debate on Thursday, June 27.

Biden and Trump faced each other for a closely moderated debate at the Atlanta studio of CNN, where the President's bumbling performance left the Democrats and his supporters in shock, with many calling for him to drop out of the 2024 presidential race.

Lara Trump claims Donald Trump is 'leading' the US

Lara Trump claimed that her father-in-law Donald Trump was "feeling great" about his debate against Joe Biden and told Bartiromo, "You also heard whenever he was in Virginia at that campaign rally, he said to anyone out there who's considering doing anything before I become president again, don't even try it."

Trump celebrated his debate performance with a rally in Democratic-leaning Virginia on Friday, where he called Biden “grossly incompetent” and a “train wreck", Politico reported.

Highlighting the election as a “choice between strength and weakness, and competence and incompetence," he stated, "The question every voter should be asking themselves today is not whether Joe Biden can survive a 90-minute debate performance, but whether America can survive four more years of crooked Joe Biden the White House. In fact, I don’t know if we can really survive five more months.”

"The fact that you have Donald Trump leading the country right now when he is not officially yet back in the White House speaks volumes to the American people and, I think, to the rest of the world," Lara said on Sunday.

"He is the leader we need right now and he is leading despite the fact Joe Biden is technically the president," she added.

"I think everybody can see what's going on here, and I think you're going to see a huge, huge win for Donald Trump come November 5th," she added.

Lara Trump's take on Joe Biden being replaced as Democratic nominee

"It's a bad situation for Democrats all around," stated the RNC co-chair on the subject. "In order for them to put someone else in to run, they have to get Joe Biden either to quit or they have to remove him via the 25th amendment. Joe Biden has said he is not going anywhere... Kamala Harris polls just about as bad, if not worse in a lot of cases, than Joe Biden. And so they have a huge problem on their hands."

"Millions of Americans came out in those primaries and voted for Joe Biden to be their nominee on the Democrat side," she elaborated.

"If they decide right here in the 11th hour to plug somebody else in, and it's not Kamala Harris, I can't think of a bigger assault to our democratic process than doing just that. But let's see what they do. Regardless if it's Joe Biden (or) Kamala Harris, Donald Trump's polls show us right now that the American people are behind him," Lara further added.
