Trump ally Maria Bartiromo challenges Republicans after he accuses Joe Biden of being 'jacked up'
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Fox Business host Maria Bartiromo, a close ally of Donald Trump questioned Republicans who suggested that President Joe Biden was on drugs during his State of the Union address in March during an interview with Rep Byron Donalds and Rep Anna Paulina Luna on May 19.
As per Forbes, in April 2024, the former POTUS made a controversial and unsubstantiated statement alleging that Biden was under the influence of cocaine during his State of the Union, telling the conservative radio show host Hugh Hewitt on May 16 that Biden "was higher than a kite" during the March 7 address.
Trump claims Biden was 'high as a kite' during State of the Union
As per The Daily Mail, referring to the outlandish claims, Bartiromo said, "Well, I just want to say, look. These are obviously very serious charges, that he's jacked up. We don't know that, we're not doctors. We have no idea."

Rep. Byron Donalds: "I absolutely agree with that. You can tell that Joe Biden comes in jacked up, and as the hour goes by, he slowly winds down. The American people deserve to know if they are giving Biden… pic.twitter.com/ifwVe5gsPX
During a political speech in Minnesota on May 18, Trump reiterated his call for a drug test from Biden before any debates, saying, "I'm gonna demand a drug test too, by the way. I am. No, I really am," he stated, adding, "I don't want him coming in like the State of the Union. He was high as a kite."
Rep Byron Donalds (R-FL) echoed Trump's sentiments, advocating for Biden to undergo drug testing before the Republican presidential debates.
"You could tell that when Joe Biden comes in, he's jacked up, and then, as the hour goes by, he slowly winds down," Donalds remarked.
He added that Biden's energy levels appeared inconsistent, and voters in the presidential election deserved clarity on this matter.
"So the American people need to understand if they're giving him some injection so that he can actually look like he's coherent and he's with us, because the other parts of the time he's not," he said.
Republicans urge Biden to release classified document interview recordings
In April, Trump hinted that Biden might have been using cocaine during his State of the Union speech, alluding to reports of cocaine found at the White House.
"I think what happened, you know that white stuff, that they happened to find, which happened to be cocaine at the White House, I don't know, I think something is going on there," he stated in an interview with radio host Hugh Hewitt.
Rep Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL) echoed Rep Byron Donalds' sentiments, expressing concerns about Biden's capacity to serve as president.
"(We) need to make sure that this individual is essentially capable, not just of leading this country, but he can make those tough decisions," she stated. "And, frankly, I'm not trying to be funny here, we don't necessarily trust that he can do that right now.
Both lawmakers, Donalds and Luna urged President Biden to release the audio recordings of his interviews with Special Counsel Robert Hur, which were conducted as part of the investigation into his possession of classified documents.
However, Biden invoked executive privilege last week, blocking the release of the audio tapes to Congress.
