WASHINGTON, DC: Lara Trump said that several members of the Trump family could eventually run for public office, signaling that the family’s political involvement may continue long after President Donald Trump leaves the national stage.

Speaking on 'Pod Force One' on Wednesday, February 18, hosted by journalist Miranda Devine, the Fox News host reflected on the past decade of watching her father-in-law navigate American politics and the personal toll it had taken.

“I’ve watched the impact that he’s been able to make in people’s lives, and it’s amazing,” Lara Trump said. “He’s dealt with hell. He has gone through so much,” she added.

She said those experiences had deeply inspired her and other family members to consider public service themselves.

Lara Trump says ‘never say never’ on a Senate bid

Lara Trump said she would not rule out running for office, including a potential bid for the US Senate, though she stressed that timing was everything in politics.

“So I would never say never to anything,” she said, noting that while she had considered a Senate run in the past, previous opportunities had not aligned. “It didn’t work out for me in 2022, it didn’t work out for me in 2025. The timing has to be right.”

She compared her own deliberations to those of Donald Trump, who spoke publicly about running for president for years before formally entering the race.

Lara Trump said that any decision to run, whether for president, Senate or another office, required the right political and personal moment.

Growing political interest within the Trump family

Lara Trump suggested that political life appealed to “many” members of the Trump family, saying years of exposure to campaigning, governing and public scrutiny had made politics feel less abstract and more accessible.

“At this point, we’ve all kind of dipped our toe in the water of politics enough to know that it’s something that possibly interests many of us in our family,” she said.

She added that Democrats might be unsettled by the idea that the Trump political brand could persist beyond Donald Trump himself.

Lara Trump speaks about President Trump's encouragement

When asked whether the president encouraged family members such as Eric Trump or Donald Trump Jr to seek office, Lara Trump said that she received strong personal backing from her father-in-law during discussions about a Senate campaign.

“I don’t think I had a bigger champion in running for a Senate seat than my father-in-law,” she said, describing how he regularly called her with feedback and encouragement from supporters across different backgrounds.

She said the president would likely support any of his children or relatives who decided to enter politics, adding that he would “absolutely have their backs” if the moment came.

Devine concluded the conversation by suggesting that a future “President Trump” from a new generation remained a possibility, leaving open the question of which family member, or how many, might ultimately take that step.
