WASHINGTON, DC: Far-right firebrand Laura Loomer took a jab at Democratic Rep Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and shared one of her old X (formerly Twitter) posts where the Democrat wrote that the US has a "moral obligation" to the Afghan people.

Loomer made the post after Ocasio-Cortez shared a post on X where she wrote, "Absolutely devastating news. My heart is broken for her family. Let us keep her loved ones in our thoughts and continue to pray for Staff Sgt Wolfe."

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's past post comes back to haunt her

Laura Loomer shared an August 2021 post of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, where she wrote, "We have a moral obligation to the Afghan people. The US role in this crisis is indisputable. We must waste no time or expense in helping refugees safely and swiftly leave Afghanistan. We must immediately welcome them to the US and provide real support as they rebuild their lives."

Interestingly, the congresswoman made the post as Afghanistan faced a crisis in 2021 that ultimately led to the collapse of the US-backed government and the conclusion of the 20-year war.

Loomer shared a screenshot of her post and wrote in the caption, "You have blood on your hands," while tagging the Democratic representative.

The post comes after two young National Guard soldiers, who had been sworn in less than a day earlier, were ambushed on the streets of Washington, DC, on Wednesday, November 26, in a shocking attack that has rattled the entire nation.

The victims were identified as 20-year-old Specialist Sarah Beckstrom and 24-year-old Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe. Beckstrom succumbed to her injuries on Thursday.

The shooting suspect was identified as Rahmanullah Lakanwal, 29, an Afghan national. He was also injured and taken into custody after the incident.

Meanwhile, the killing of the have resulted in questions regarding the vetting of Afghan nationals resettled in the US after the American withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021.

Trump doesn’t rule out deporting DC shooting suspect's family

President Donald Trump said on Thursday that he has not ruled out deporting the family of the shooting suspect, Rahmanullah Lakanwal, allegedly involved in the Washington, DC, ambush-style attack near the White House.

When asked by a reporter whether he plans to deport the wife and children of Rahmanullah Lakanwal, Donald Trump said, "Well, we’re looking at that right now. We’re looking at the whole situation with family. It’s a tragic situation."

Lakanwal entered the US in 2021 under "Operation Allies Welcome" in the wake of the US withdrawal from Afghanistan. He resettled in Bellingham, Washington, with his wife and at least five children.

He allegedly opened fire and struck the two National Guard troops just blocks away from the White House around 2.15 pm on Wednesday.

Beckstrom — who was shot in the head and chest — was patrolling the area with guardsman Wolfe when the attack took place. A third guardsman rushed to the scene after hearing the gunshots and took down Lakanwal, who was also left with gunshot wounds in the melee.

The 29-year-old suspect is facing at least three counts of assault with intent to kill and criminal possession of a weapon. Those counts carry up to 15 years behind bars.

US Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro announced on Friday that Lakanwal now faces first-degree murder charges after Beckstrom's death.
