WASHINGTON, DC: Laura Loomer, a two-time GOP congressional candidate and staunch political ally of President Donald Trump, sparked controversy on social media by publishing an online post expressing the sentiment that the United States needs a king.

Following the shooting of the two National Guard members near the White House on Wednesday, November 26, Loomer wrote on X (formerly Twitter), "That's it. I want a King," sparking backlash immediately.

Laura Loomer, who is a close ally of President Donald Trump, has been highly influential in his second term as she has actively sought to unmask government officials she deems insufficiently loyal to MAGA.

Reportedly, Trump is said to have acted on her counsel, purging many top officials whom she has accused of disloyalty.

Despite this, Loomer's overt declaration for the institution of an American monarchy was swiftly met with widespread scorn and ridicule.

Jonah Goldberg from The Dispatch replied directly to Loomer, saying, “Anti-American. Like literally, anti-American and un-American.”

Joshua Claybourn of the CATO Institute framed the incident as a sign of deeper political transformation, adding, “The post-liberal moment has definitely arrived. Both parties are heading in a new direction.”

Condemnation continued unabated, with many expressing utter shock and ridicule at the very suggestion of a monarchy to replace the American republic. The public response reflected a similar outrage to solidify the predominant rejection of Loomer's proposal.

One user on X wrote, "This is what *actual* treason looks like, btw."

Another said, "Cool I’ll write ya a recommendation… take care!"

One more added, "Then America isn’t for you."

A person expressed, "Actually on the side of the liberals in this reply section. I never want a king. You wouldn’t either if the king had different views from you. Monarchy is wrong as it’s a king and their peasants. If someone wishes for monarchy, they do not belong in our representative democracy. People can have their different views. People have choices. This is the way it should be."

Another user commented, "Move to Saudi Arabia, see how that works out for you."

"No, thanks. America is for freedom, but feel free to move to where there are kings," read another tweet.

Laura Loomer’s post follows attack on newly sworn-in troops in DC

Laura Loomer's social media post followed the attack on two young National Guard soldiers, 24-year-old Andrew Wolfe and 20-year-old Sarah Backstrom, who were sworn in less than 24 hours prior to the incident.

Authorities identified the suspected gunman as a 29-year-old Afghan national, Rahmanullah Lakanwal. He reportedly approached the troops station near the Farragut Square Metro station "without provocation."

It may be noted here that Backstrom succumbed to the injuries a day later, while Wolfe is said to be "fighting for his life." The soldiers were part of President Donald Trump's push to send more National Guardsmen into Washington, DC, to help stem crime.
