PALM BEACH, FLORIDA: Laura Loomer has sparked quite a buzz online with her take on the recent shooting near former president Donald Trump.

Loomer voiced her concerns following reports of shots fired near Trump’s golf course on Sunday, September 15. She didn’t hold back on sharing her thoughts about what she warned were the dangers the former president faces when he talks about illegal immigration.

According to Loomer, whenever Trump addresses the issue of illegal immigration, it's like a signal flare for assassination attempts. "Every time Trump speaks about illegal immigration, an assassination attempt is made on the former president," she alleged.

The shooting in question took place outside Trump International Golf Course in West Palm Beach, Florida, just as Trump was leaving. Fortunately, the former president was unharmed and the shooter — identified as Ryan Routh—is currently in police custody. The Secret Service is actively investigating the incident.

Laura Loomer lauded for her take on Donald Trump assassination attempts

In a social media post, Laura Loomer pointed to other instances of alleged threats against Donald Trump, saying, “When President Trump went to the border in Arizona, there was a large-scale manhunt for a man who threatened to attack and kill him.”

She didn’t stop there, bringing attention to the timing of the golf course incident. “Just after president Trump made national news for raising awareness about the Haitian invasion... somebody just opened fire on the Trump International Golf Club.”

Loomer didn’t just aim her frustration at the shooters; she also took a swing at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS)—specifically its secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. She accused Mayorkas of not doing enough to ensure Trump’s safety.

"DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, who is in charge of the border, refused to sign off on giving Trump and his campaign more Secret Service protection," Loomer claimed. Whether there’s truth to this allegation remains to be seen.

Loomer found plenty of people on social media who shared her concerns.

"Migration is a weapon being used to hurt and destroy the American people, so if Trump interferes with that, that will foil their plans," one user posted on X.

"Have you noticed that only presidents who go after the deep state get assassination attempts? (JFK, Reagan, DJT)," another wrote.

"There are dark forces at work in our country," read a comment.

"Must be a coincidence!" someone else added sarcastically.

"Laura, they are never gonna stop trying to take him out. That is the only arrow they have left in their quiver. Everything else has failed," another offered.

Are Donald Trump and Laura Loomer getting too close?

This comes as Donald Trump's growing closeness to far-right activist Laura Loomer is raising eyebrows, even within his own Republican circles.

The controversy began when Loomer was spotted boarding Trump’s plane on a trip to Philadelphia, where he was preparing for his debate against Kamala Harris. It wasn’t just a casual visit either; she was with him at the 9/11 memorial ceremony in New York, after having previously peddled conspiracy theories claiming the attacks were an “inside job".

The fact that Trump chose to be publicly associated with Loomer raised alarm among some of his Republican allies. A number of Republicans voiced their concerns privately, warning that Loomer’s involvement could be damaging.

But when Trump was asked about these concerns during a news conference at his Los Angeles golf resort, his answer didn’t quite clear things up. He referred to Loomer as a “supporter”—not once, not twice, but five times.

“Well, I don’t know what they would say,” Trump responded when asked what his Republican colleagues might think. "Laura’s been a supporter. Just like a lot of people are supporters. She speaks very positively of the campaign. I can’t tell Laura what to do. She’s a free spirit.”

Things didn’t get easier for Trump as the conversation continued. A reporter pointed out Loomer’s history, saying, “Laura Loomer is traveling with you on your plane.... She made racist remarks about your opponent. She has also espoused 9/11 conspiracies. Do you disavow those remarks?”

Trump responded with more deflection. “I have to see what those remarks are,” he said. “I don’t even know what you’re talking about. She may have said something based on what you’re telling me. I‘ll go take a look and I’ll put out a statement later on.”

Later that day, Trump took to his social media platform Truth Social to clarify things—kind of.

“Laura Loomer doesn't work for the Campaign. She's a private citizen and longtime supporter," he began. "I disagree with the statements she made but, like the many millions of people who support me, she is tired of watching the Radical Left Marxists and Fascists violently attack and smear me, even to the point of doing anything to stop their Political Opponent, ME!"

"I am now in California, which Democrats like Comrade Kamala Harris and Governor Gavin Newscum have completely DESTROYED. I will turn it all around and, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN! -DJT," Trump added.
