DENVER, COLORADO: Rep Lauren Boebert (R-CO) was caught on police bodycam footage saying that problems with her car's transmission led her to overspeed after she was pulled over on Vail Pass in Colorado in May.

In a Colorado State Patrol video obtained and shared online by Fox 31 Denver, the congresswoman can be heard explaining, "I was messing with my gears, and I know I ended up going, like, way too fast," as per HuffPost.

Rep Lauren Boebert failed to pay off her ticket within the 20-day window

Lauren Boebert, who has previously been under investigation for her driving, was informed by the officer that she "hit 90 for a second, but you were on the brakes pretty quick."

She received a ticket for driving at 84 mph in a 65 mph zone. Boebert apparently missed paying the $174.50 fine within the 20-day window, but paid it after being told she would have to appear in court for the ticket, according to Westword.

In June, the far-right lawmaker emerged victorious in the Republican primary election in Colorado’s 4th Congressional District. She previously ran in Colorado's 3rd District, which she won in 2022 in a close contest against Democrat Adam Frisch.

Internet shreds Lauren Boebert as she's seen giving a lame excuse for overspeeding in police bodycam footage

Rep Lauren Boebert's excuse of a malfunctioning transmission system didn't sit well with netizens

One wrote, "Boebert is a habitual offender on many levels. Boebert has no regard for law and order, her actions repeatedly prove that. She should have been ticketed for reckless driving and arrested, The police officer gave her another ticket and warning. Boebert is going to hurt or kill someone."

Another said, "I'm seeing a pattern with this GOP lawbreaker. Yet, she'll be reelected, which is even more revealing," and a person remarked, "Lauren Boebert isn't the problem, the real problem is the Constituents that think Lauren Boebert is fit to represent them in Congress, not once, but twice."

"She was at a debate in Colorado with five other republican candidates. The moderator asked the question 'How many have you been arrested' three including Bobert raised their hands. The audience cheered and applauded. This is what the republican party has descended into," shared an individual.

One more pointed out, "Messing with her gears? Looks like an automatic with maybe paddle shifter also. So what does that even mean messing with the gears?"

Another person offered, "'I was messing with my gears...' at 65+ mph? What was she driving that she would need to mess with the gears at over 65mph? And what does 'mess with my gears' even mean (keeping it focused on the vehicle, not weird euphemisms). Sounds like a lie to me."
